So, i've finally gotten a new video card and sorted out any issues i've had. It runs every single game out there no problem. But, Crysis.... for some damn odd reason is just FUBR'd. My computer isn't running it the way it should.

Very high 1650x1050 resolution with no AA runs more like a 4870, even worse than one gpu at times.

Things I've tried:

-9.7, 9.8, 10.1,10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5beta Catalyst Control Center Drivers

-Heat has been tested to not be a factor

-My video card is running

-Crysis version 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.21

-Catalyst A.I off, standard, and advanced

-Show CrossfireX Symbol

-Vsync + triple buffering

-Lowering sound quality in game

-Underclocking the GPU/overclocking the gpu

-reverted all overclocking

-Running Crysis in compatibility mode with Vista + all service packs/XP

-Two 5870 videos of where my performance SHOULD be at (they get higher framerates with AA and a higher res)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ij1QEZcHjk&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_NP1Cj8vvg

-4870x2 video of contact(mine does not come remotely close; try halving the framerate he's getting to get what i experience )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg4D2W5ndkI

-4870x2 performance in 480gtx reviews swamping my rig. I can't even get max framerates up to what they get for average framrate

http://techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_480_Fermi/10.html

http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=16475&page=6

-My 3Dmark vantage score for the gpu is 15600; exactly where it should

-Furmark stability test stable (tested for 1 hour)

-ALL other games run amazing and exactly how they should be running...

-Used Driversweeper + manually removed audio/motherboard drivers and updated them.

I'm pretty damn frustrated! If anyone can give any tips or things to try that I havn't, please do!

Rig:

4870x2,qx6700, 2.66ghz@3.75ghz (1650 QDR + Prolimatech Megahalems push/pull),ocz 700W Gamexstream psu,780i SLI A1 mobo ("Meh" OC'ing board + volt modded),4 gigs ddr2 @825mhz (tightened timings),Windows 7 x64,Samsung 22.6" monitor 1680x1050

Why did you get an HD 4870 x2 when you could have gotten a single HD 5870 that not only runs better 90% of the time, but is cheaper, smaller, cooler and has DX11 and lower power consumption? And best of all you wouldn't have to deal with Crossfire incompatibilities.

You should know that Crysis is not optimized for Crossfire, and driver releases have only made it a "bit" better but not by much. That includes two-in-one sandwich cards like the HD 4870X2.

Now to your problem, I would suggest formatting and reinstalling your OS. When I got my HD 5870 a month ago(upgraded from a HD 4870). I did Driver sweeper and reinstalled the display drivers but my performance was terrible. After I did a reformat everything ran like it should have so I suggest you give that a try.

nah, the guy has a QX6700, he should've had at least one 5970 to begin with.

anyway, be sure that Crysis is patched; vanilla Crysis wasn't multi-core friendly, for both cpu and gpu.

anyway, test result is only for reference especially when test setups are very different from your own.

when you patch crysis, should you go straight to the latest patch? Ive heard some people say you should install the patches one at a time, doesn't make sense to me though.

Run the game under DX9 mode, the performance is better. Also, must known that Crysis is a lot more optimized for SLI than Crossfire. In terms of single core CPUs isn't a problem (both Nvidia and ATI cards are on par) but when you go with multi-GPU systems Nvidia is much better with the Cryengine 2.

I have the same DAM PROBLEM!!!! ARGHHH! i play crysis at 1680x1050 with 4xaa at only about 30 fps while they r playing it at ~45 fps in the reviews. It really pisses me off. I love my card no doubt about it but no single driver has given me any kind of performance boost. I HATE CATALYST!!!!

Wow; well I partitioned a harddrive and installed all my drivers +win7 64 bit. Crysis now runs the way it should! Beautifully! I got the card for 200 bucks, and it's a steal considering it out performs the 5870 with 10.3 cat drivers on nearly every game. It is hot and power hungry (loud is stretching it because I run 40% fan speed only), and lacks dx11, but meh. It packs a punch.
