Topic.

How accurate is this site in gauging if a game will run well on your PC or not?

The reason I ask is because there are some games that the site is telling me that I should be able to run with no problems, yet I am having trouble at even lower settings.

It sucks! It judges you PC based on the minimum requirements on the games case....but those are always BS!

I think its pretty accurate - but "How well you can run it?" is a completely different matter altogether.

This. The site just compares your rig to what's on the box, which is something you can do yourself. The site does not give you an idea of how well your rig will actually run a game.

The thing about minimum specs though is that most publishers take that to mean "this is what you need to actually get the game to get past the menu" not "this is what you need for an enjoyable experience". Really you want to be looking at the recommended specs as those are what you need to run the game with decent settings and FPS.

Ok... maybe I should have stated this in the OP. On a lot of the games, it has both "Minimum Requirements" and "Recommended Requirements". If my bar goes well past both of those benchmarks, should I assume that I should be able to run it well, or is it still unreliable?

Use YouGamers instead. It's actually run by FutureMark.

They sometimes have their own optimised specs for games in addition to the stated requirements from the publisher.

It's not very accurate to my recollection, for example if a games minimum GPU needs was a 7800 GTX (high end 7 series) and you had an 8200 (entry level 8 series which isn't as good as a 7800) it would say you can run it simply because the number is higher.

Yeah, I could play WoW even though I didn't reach the minimum CPU speed requirement.

Seconded. Yougamers one is much more accurate since they actually test the game with min and reccomended settings and try to find the best settings on various setups Can you run it is nothing more than telling you the minimum settings ( it rendered my computer almost unable to play a game due to my 2,4GHz Cpu even though is a quad core)
