i hear so much about how the crysis engines full potential wont be seen in a year or two and stuff. but the game development started in maybe 2004. so ur telling me that crytek in 2004-2005 had access to technology that is going to come out in 2008-2009??? if they dont have such advanced technology how can they create a game like that?? i dont get it. i thought u cant create an engine more advanced than the computer(s) you are creating the engine on in order for the engine to be playable.

There are graphics cards designed for rendering/developing. I do believe that they don't perform as well as normal graphics cards on the run, but they cost WAY more.

They have secret super-PC's that the governments don't want you to know about. They all got like 32 core processers with 8 terabytes of RAM and Geforce 18 series cards using PCI-Express 128x slots with 8x SLI compatibility.

It's all one wacked out conspiracy man.

You haveta remember they have high end computer to develope engines ON. Not every home user has the system to run it, so the consumers are playing catch up to the devs. Also we're getting so advanced they are already talking about getting away from GPU and just going full software rendering. Like Quake 1.

Hell do some looking into IDs new engine, that hsould impress the hell out of people when it comes out, assuming the game its stuck to isn't ass.

ya so they have super duper high end comps. so ur telling me in 2004-2005 they were developing crysis on a 4 ghz quad core with 4gig of ddr3 1ghz ram and 2 9000 seriies graphics card running SLI?? cus that is what ull need to run crysis at super duper ultra hyper maxed. how di they have that technology "which wont come out till 2009 back in 2005 when they were developing the game? or howd they even have todays technology back in 2005?? is it all a conspiracy like mooksi says?

Think of Pixar movies. How did computers render this? Rendering and playing are two different things.

They've had high end computers in the 90s look up a Cray or Kray... and its offshoot computers. For thier time they were awesome , now just think of the high end computers that are out now.

Developers have access to render boxes which cost like 25,000$ and can render anything in a matter of seconds or instantly. Also programmers get together and start coming up with new engines along with artist and level designers. Crytek has a very talented team that sticks together and is making world leading technology in games.

Putting together a game takes a hell of a lot less horsepower than it does to RUN said game smoothly. They just took a very good guess at what hardware would be able to handle in a few years, and programmed accordingly.
