How can I increase my download speed?

I put my specs on the WoW forum so I know that I can run it on my MAC because they said I had descent specs. I just hate that it takes forever to download something. I'm only 1.4/3.2 GB done which sucks. Its been going for 2.5 hours now so maybe I'll get to play at like 9 o'clock tonight lol.Game__Raider

So I am downloading the WoW trial till my real game comes in the mail and it is 3.2 GB. It's taking forever because it is only going at an average of 165 KB/s. Sometimes it drops down to like 120 depending on the download. My computer has a max download speed of 800 KB/s so how can I get it closer to that?Game__Raider

well when you pay for 6mb down, thats mega-bit, not mega-byte.

bytes are file size, bits is speed of measurements.

there are 8 bits, to one byte.

so if your paying for 6 mega-bit, you download at around average of 800kb kiloBYTES.

though obama has stated that he is increasing bandwith of all broadband internet in the country... which is a start.

but its true places like japan and korea have wayyyy faster internet than we do here.

the reason is the FCC, which have screwed most of everything up.

no i mean he is raising the bandwidth cap that the fcc has on it right now to a higher number.. so everyone can "potentially" get faster internet.

atleast thats what i get out of it, i could be wrong.

If you're using Firefox, download the add-on DownThemAll for it. It works pretty well. Also, try downloading WoW patches from websites like filefront or something instead of the blizzard downloader. Sometimes you can get better speeds.
