you'll need to open up IE or whatever browser you currenly use, and type in the IP address for you router/gateway. You can obtain this by clicking on start > run > type in cmd and hit ok. There is your command prompt in XP. type in the command ipconfig and you'll get a nice list of your network connections, just look for the one called gateway. I know offhand that linksys is 192.168.100.1 and ****** is 192.168.1.1 Hopefull this will help you out!

uh sure, i'd at least try it, and if you have linksys, it's 192.168.1.1 net gear is 192.168.0.1 you'll prolly get prompted with a password screen, default linksy is User: linksys pass: admin    netgear will be user:admin and the password will either be 1234 or password, depending on your model

Linksys user field is left empty and just Admin. You are right about the netgear password and user though.

well i know that the 54G Wireless and the small hard wired i have here at home are default to linksys/admin, as well as the 3 we have at work, i guess it varies by model as well

Hmm, they might also vary due to the geographical area it is sold at as all of the Linksys routers I have worked with (I currently own three) don't need an account name. I did hear of the Linksys being used as a username before but never encountered it myself.
