Download new driver, uninstall old driver, then after your computer restarts you install the new driver.
1) Download and install Driver Sweeper.
2) Uninstall driver and any video card-related utilities through Add/Remove programs.
3) Restart into safe mode.
4) Open Driver Sweeper, check all the boxes corresponding to your video card (ATI or Nvidia), click "Clean", and restart when prompted.
5) Install new video card driver and restart again.
6) Enjoy.
I'd recommend this method, it works fine as long as you're upgrading the same card. If you run into trouble or you're switching cards MaxGamer's method will always work.So is it bad to download and install drivers over the old ones thats what ive been doing for year and ive had no problem

Ive always done it this way aswell, im far too lazy to restart my computer 10 times, just to install drivers.

i remember trying that once and guild wars acted very funny. an uninstall and reinstall fixed the problem. if its working grand for you though then go for it. its certainly less hassle. but if you start to see problems then an uninstall and reinstall of the driver may fix it.Please Log In to post.
