How do i record videos on my computer?

how do i do this? can you recomended me some programs that allow me to do this? (personally, i'm not a big fan of Hypercam because it leaves that stupid watermark on the video, but if there's a version that doesnt have it, or a better program altogether, i'm all ears!)
