i have this monitor: http://www.amazon.com/HP-MX70-17-CRT-Monitor/dp/tech-data/B00005T3KO/ref=de_a_smtd/002-3925576-3869617

and for input it has 15 pin mini D-sub. the video card has dvi slots, so does this mean it is a no-go?

Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814161060

The card comes with a vga-dvi adaptor, so I'd go with it.

If you buy the retail version of that card then your current monitor will work just fine since the package includes a DVI to VGA/D-sub adapter.

Thanks guys I did not see that. BTW, not buying a new monitor and using the old one in order to acheive better cpu and gpu is a smart move, right?

If it works, crt's are good, but very big. I have a 21" crt with my computer and it is enormous. Weighs 61 lbs.
