I have external computer speakers that use with my PS3, but if I use HDMI and the sound goes through HDMI as well, how do I route the sound from the tv to the speakers? Would I have to use the "Sound Output" on my tv with the red and white cables? I really don't want to because this degrades the quality.

I'm not sure what you mean by external computer speakers? but you can use an optical cable from your PS3 as well but if it's not 5.1 surround sound even if you use the red and white cables the sound quality isn't gonna be that degraded.

Does PS3 offer component cables? If so, you are still using the red/white, but you don't have to run it through the TV.
