Hi all, haven't posted in yonks :S

So, ever sinced i've moved to America i seem to be gaming a lot less. I only have a laptop now to play games, but i'm not much of a big fan of using the keyboard when it comes to first person (such as elder scrolls/fallout). How is everyone else gaming on a computer and laptop without a controller? i suppose a joystick or if somehow someone has gotten an xbox controller working :?

If your using a joystick which one?

i have used all consoles, xbox, ps3, nintendo crap...to me the only reason i would prefer a controller is if i am playing a racing game. Then i like being able to use the "triggers" and it allows me to regulate how fast i go by how much i press down on it, ya know? with a keyboard there is no pressure involved its just keys, not triggers or whatever.

Good thing i dont play racing games then lol. I just love the pinpoint accuracy i get with a mouse. I find on consoles its like you are very slow..and viewing out of a small narrow box...dunno how to explain it i just feel cramped lol. Takes way too long to turn around on a console game, on pc just one slide of the mouse i can turn around like 6 times.

and i prefer being able to type and communicate with a mic if i choose, instead of being forced to use a generic microphone with screaming preteen fraggers.

and you can use the Xbox360 controller with some Pc games, not sure exactly how so look it up

There are driver support 360 controllers, however you are doing yourself a disservice to play a pc game with a gamepad. I am assuming your using a mouse not the built in touch pad on your laptop correct? It is a proven fact that you will not be as good as people using kb/m on online games, mouses are more accurate and faster then using a controller. There are only 2 games and 1 type of game you should ever need to use a gamepad for. Assassins creed 1 Assassins creed 2 Racing games (and you should be using a wheel not a controller.)

Think pretty much the only games I ever use a controller for are sports games, though haven't played any for years.

Even 3rd person games suck with a controller cause you have to use the joystick things to look around with, using a mouse is so much easier.

Flight sims = joystick.

Racing games = G27.

Haven't played a FPS with a controller since Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on the N64.

Well there are some games that i prefer to use a controller for.. For example, I cannot play fallout new vegas with a keyboard and mouse..I have to use a 360 controller cause thats the way i played fallout 3 and im so use to the controls. but games like dragon age, and some fps games i reall prefer the keyboard and mouse.. it does take a while to get use to if you come from gaming on consoles.

I have so many consoles, and almost always game on the PC or the Genesis. They just go so well together :) Saturn too.

The only thing controllers are good for are racing games, but other than that, Mouse & Keyboard is way better for gaming.

Good old PC gaming! :)
