How do you restore an IPOD?

My ipod freezes up everytime itunes loads up, and it wont show its music so i have to restore it. Problem is, when i click "restore" it says "There is a prooblem downloading the ipod sofware for the ipod "jimmy's ipod". The requestedrecource was not found.

are u using usb 2.0?

Usb 2.0 has nothing to do with it. the ipod will work fine on older usb's anyways.
