So, apparently i have an awesome uncle & he gave me his GTX580, so I decided to do a build!

AMD FX-6100

Corsair H60 CPU Cooler

Corsair XMS3 8GB Dual Channel

ASUS M5A97 Mobo

Zalman Z9 Case

Corsair CX750 PSU

Zotac GTX 580

Hitachi Deskstar 500GB 7200RPM

how do you think it'll fare?

GTX 580 but going with AMD? :|MonsieurX

yeah it you're going the fx6100 route i'd suggest going amd for your gpu as well. my build is about 8 months old. I''m using a 6100 also, but an amd 6850 and I no problem playing everything on high and extra.. no AA tho.

Why? that statement makes no sense he was given a GTX 580 and GTX 580 creams the 6850.

Get a cheaper PSU

the psu i got was on sale @ ncix for $85, plus there is a $15 MIR, so it was fairly cheap

I'm not saying he should rock the 6850, im saying go AMD in general and that I went amd with my 6100 and i've had amazing results. A guy in the clan I play with a gtx 560ti.. in theory he should be out performing my 6850, but when we play bf3 together, SWTOR, wow. etc. I seem to our performe him on higher settings. Usually getting 2 - 4 frames a second more. Again I know the 560ti isnt the 580 he's getting, but what I'm saying is even tho the 560ti should be out performing my 6850, it doesn;t with the amd processor.. Not entirely sure if it's gpu related or if he's having driver issues or what. I just find in general AMD with AMD works well.
