I know it's a very deep turn-based strategy game, but how does it play like? What's a good example of how this game is like.
I'm thinking about giving this game a try but I'm looking for some more info on how this series flows.
Thanks.

you will begin with settler units, which you use to found cities, where you choose to build your cities should be determined by resources, as resources can significantly alter the game
once you have a city up and running, you will build buildings (which will affect your city's science, finance, production, culture, etc) and you will build military units for defence
you will expand your civilisation by sending out settlers to found new cities and develop them similarly, you will also progress down a technology tree, explore the map and become introduced to new civilisations - you have (limited) diplomatic options such as trading and alliances, or you can always go to war with them
you will develop the area around your cities as they grow, you will expand and flourish, you will encroach on the borders of rival civs and conquer them - using a wide variety of units which have a very pronounced paper/scissors/stone vibe, or be conquered
essentially, think of it like a real time strategy game, on a much larger scale, playing in slow motion... with more depth, and a persistent, era-spanning empire, as well as diplomatic options
Yeah, like the other users said above, try out the demo.
At first, the gameplay will feel slow and boring, but give it about 10 mins, and you'll be enjoying it. :)
