Hey,

In terms of computer hardware, I almost have no idea. So I really don't know how my rig rates compared to others. I honestly haven't posted specs before, so if I put in a lot of unnecessary information just tell me. It's a two-year-old computer.

Asus P5LD2-VM/C Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6200 1.86Ghz
Seagate 160Gb 7200rpm 8mb 3.5" ATA100
RAM Transcend 1Gb PC5300 DDRII 667mhz
Asus EN7100GS 128Mb DDR2 Support to 512Mb TV/DVI PCI-Express (apparently this is the graphics card according to my receipt)
NVIDIA GeForce 7100 GS 512Mb Intergrated RAMDAC (This is not mentioned on the receipt)

NEC 17" LCD 72VX-BK (DVI) 8ms Response 1280x1024
Windows XP Home
Some crappy keyboard and mouse (cost $30.00 for both of them)
Simple case
16x cd-reader and burner

I just need to clear up a few things. I've heard that for example a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz is slower than an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz. Is this true at all?

With this computer what games will I be able to run? I'd love it if I could run the new COD. I've tried Battlefield 2, and I was able to run it on Medium overall settings in windowed mode at about 25-30fps.

Thanks for any help,
Franciscoec

A 6/10. You need to put in another gig of ram, and buy an nvidia 9800gt graphics card. Also, you need to overclock your cpu.

Does the graphics card determine just the good looks of the game or does it also effect fps?

Yes, both of those things. Here is the cool thing, you have a good motherboard, and a dual core cpu. You are only needing about $150 in upgrades to have a good gaming pc.

The three things bolded are the main things that you want to post, although you presented it in a clean manner so it wasn't at all bothersome ;) Yes, it is true that a Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz is faster than a Pentium 4, and your system doesn't meet the minium requirements for Call of Duty 5. The only thing that you would need to upgrade would be your videocard, although if you bought an extra gigayte of RAM that would really help keep the framerate smooth, and an extra gigabyte of RAM these days is dirt cheap. A video card to run Call of Duty 5 nicely isn't at all expensive, and would maybe cost you about $70-$110 (Depending on what settings you want to run it at)

Although before you go out and buy a video card, you have to knew the maximum amount of watts and amperage your powersupply outputs, and if you crack open the case on your computer and look at the label on the powersupply:

That will tell you everything you need to know and we could recommend a videocard according to your powersupply :)

Yes - another gig of ram and a decent graphics cards and you will see a good improvement in the quality of the graphics and the framerates.

Alrighty I've got the sticker.

DC Output

First Row: +3.3V, +5V, +12V, -5V, -12V, +5VSB

Second Row: 25A, 35A, 16A, 0.5A, 0.8A, 2A

So yeah could anyone recommend a video card?:P

And another thing, is each stick of RAM the same as another (except for size of course)? Are there any factors such as speed, different plug etc.?

Get the ati hd 4670. It doesnt require an extra power supply. If you get something like an 8800gt, you wont be able to run it.

the ram is going to be ddr2 for that computer, it is very cheap right now, you could get a one gig stick for like 10 bucks or get two gigs for like 15-20 bucks, its probably the easiest thing to upgrade/replace in a computer, and about overclocking your cpu, its actually much easier than you'd think but I'm not the guy to tell you how to do that.:(

16v on the 12v rail. That is bad, it should be at least 30A

So, summing this up I need a better graphics card, more RAM and a PSU with more wattage. This is a really long topic and you're probably sick of me, but one last question. Does anyone recommend a PSU, or are they all the same as the next one?

And what wattage is my psu as in 300W? I probably look really ignorant, but just bear with me.

Thanks
