BC2 is garbage compared to BF 1942, 2142, 2, and even Vietnam. Ya I said it...even Vietnam. Although I am playing BC2 and it is fun :)
I can guarantee that what "popularity" BC2 has now will drop the week before BF3 is released. Why? People will go back to BF2 so they can remember what a good FPS with communication, voice chat, and teamwork is like in order to hype themself up before buying it.
Instantly. I'm one of the customers who suffered from connection problems, so i never got to play the bleedin thing.

i remember reading about opening the ports and stuff..
i used to have this problem too until i tried this fix.
even after adding BC2 to your firewall exception list. Add these ports to the exception list. and then dont run the BC2 .exe file. instead, whenever you wanna start the game, run the updater in admin mode by right clicking. its much easier to put a shortcut on your desktop. hope it helps !

This, but somehow I'm doubting DICE on this, I doubt they'll make it a better game, something like an updated BF 2, they'll probably make it a BC 2 with larger maps and 64 players...Instantly

I've already stopped playing BC2, I check in every now and again to see if they've finally fixed the server browser... still no luck. It takes me longer to find a server to join than the time I spend in the actual game.

you should try my fix at the first few posts. it worked well for me and my friends. =)
My biggest complaint is that after all these weeks of playing, my stats on the homepage still reads 'Level 1'. What the fudge, EA? And what is up with the huge ping increase (by more than 100) upon entering any server?I've already stopped playing BC2, I check in every now and again to see if they've finally fixed the server browser... still no luck. Nope......BF3 is for the Battlefield Veterans completely different game Those who want a challenge and want the old BF feeling they'll be going to BF3 But those i'd like to call the "casuals" will stay with their MW2 and BC2 :PMrLions
I would consider myself as a gamer but I enjoy BC2 (not MW2 tho but I enjoyed the first MW with clan matches) now how I'm casual?. I haven't played any Battlefield other than BC and the first Bf so how is Bf2 different from the BC? (I'm not cricising I'm really wondering as BC encourages teamwork and it's very fun when played with quality gamers)

I haven't gained on consoles since my old PS2.I say that even before BF3 very big part of community will go back to BF2 (who didnt do it yet). BC2 is a fun game , but it doesnt have such longevity like BF2 has and lets hope BF3 will have.
I think it depends on map size and how many of BC2's features B3 uses because people may miss some of the stuff that was in BC2 and go back every now and again. but if B3 has all of BC2's features and more i'd think people would just go straight to it.
I'm gonna honestly and go with same day. Some people will play it for a lil bit, but I wouldn't expect PC gamers to be buying BC2 anymore or playing it at all unless they couldn't afford to buy BF3 at that point in time. No new servers will be on BC2 and tons will just disappear.
I guess it's how you define 'dead', but for the most part it'll die the same day.
I knew and I think DICE knows BC2 is merely an appetizer before the main course.
- PC exclusive
- Frostbite 2 game engine running DX11
- DICE is the producer
- EA is the publisher
- Will feature some sort of destructible environment or the ability to destroy objects (canisters, windows, etc.)
- Won't be as system resource heavy as previous Battlefield's (by ratio)
- First Person Shooter
- Released no later than March 2011
A map is mentioned by name, called Baghdad Burning, and appears to be a massive urban map, similar to BF2 very popular Strike at Karkand. The game is powered by Frostbite DX, currently the Frostbite engine is used in Battlefiled: Bad Company on PS3 and Xbox 360. The DX could refer to DirectX (10?), a PC version of the Frostbite engine.
[Update 1] A few wanted to know if the document mentions in-game advertising, it does not, but it wouldn't be surprising, considering BF2142 had in-game advertising.
[Update 2] EA responded to the rumor with a "no comment" statement.
[Update 3] For clarification, the document doesn't say that XP is not supported, it only lists Vista and OS X.
[Update 4] Further investigation reveals that EA DICE owns the domain battlefield3.com(not so important, since it was registered in 2004, so was battlefield4.com etc.). Still no reply from DICE. Stay tuned for further updates.
Please note that none of this is confirmed.
Well it's the same engine and they didn't say that it won't, but it will fail hard if it doesn't have a SDK or any mod tools. They said that for now it's too complex and even they don't know how to make it work for everyone out there but they are working on it and they really want to integrate such features in the next PC release (hopefully BF 3 not BC 3) and maybe even release something for BC 2. No FPS will last with the default maps, at least on PC, look at BF 2 for example, some of the best maps were maps that the community made and even DICE liked them so much that they included them in official patches.
A level maker imo is vital for BF 3, stability and few bugs unlike BC 2 that was ruined.....the beta was a better experience, when it was released it was still good but after they began making patches....they destroyed it and now they're making stupid excuses every week for the next patch.
Those are actually great games...2 and 2142, BC 2 is just another game.

I feel it exactly in the opposite way. I spent near to 400 hours in BF 2 playing it over a year, and now I'm reaching 300 hours in BC 2 in barely 3 months, and will not touch BF 2 again. Ever.
Here's a list of Battlefield 3 things that are nearly guaranteed:
- Released no later than March 2011mattuk69
A source for this? Due BF3 wasn't even officially presented, I'm surprised that the ship date could be just available. Is like talking about the Diablo IV list of characters, IMO.
Impossible to predict, for all we know it could become the worst entry in the battlefield series. We have seen nothing of it at all.
Even if the game is pure awesomeness I doubt everyone who plays BC2 will drop it on the launchday of BF3 instantaneously (time/money constraints/addiction to BC2/...)
But if you want my guess: I'd say 14.3 days.
Every single one of the "still played" FPSs have mod tools, BC 2 doesn't and for now will not have, will it last without custom maps? doubt it.

I doubt BF3 will exclude Windows XP being that BC2 didn't. The document at hand was never clarified to be legit. I won't believe any information that doesn't come from EA/DICE until the announcement. Too many tricksters out there.

their are still a large amount of people using XP(like me.) It would be foolish to exclude that part of the market.I really wouldn't stress on it right now, you won't see BF3 until 2012 at the earliest. BC2 is the best FPS out there right now on PC or console.
