I'm good at FPS games but I need to warm up first, meaning this that the first rounds can be a little low but later on I manage to get a positive KDR and be at the top of the score board.
I'm a murderer on CS:S and BF2, and I can generally beat any combat-focused game in 8-10 hours or less (Riddick, FEAR, Godfather, Gun, RTCW, Postal 2: AW, and so on). not to boast, or anything...
used to play CS 1.6 alot.....was moderately competitive then. think i still got it now though :) i also played America's Army for a while a few years back. i did ok too.
but it's the offline play where i truly shine. no kidding.
most ill be decent in 1-1 kill ratio or better, others, which i always like or play i just r ape in such as ET:wolf, but now and then the hit boxes dont go for me and no game will go in my favor.
Offline - An extreme case of good skill Online - I usually dominate the games (IE. I'm usually in the top 3 of the players in most games), but I usually have to be playing it for a while before my score gets really good (I don't like to join late).
On a good day, I just demolish people in front of me (either in BF2, CoD or CS), but on other days, I play like a noob who just got the game yesterday.
Im all right i play a lot of console FPS and then whent to PC and it was so much easyer now when i play games like halo 2 and COD on xboxlive its a lot easyer to beat the hell out of people.
I'm very very good at online FPS, I was very good at CS 1.6 during the 3 years I played it seriously in clans and stuff. Im kinda good at offline but I only play on easy or normal so it's not much of a challange :)
I suppose I'm decent enough, but then again, I tend to play more realistic games like ArmA and SWAT 4 where body counts aren't nearly as important as mission objectives. In the end, it depends on the game. I'm decent at all FPS games (after a little practice of course).
Brains over brawns baby. If it's a face to face gundown, I just die...immediately. If there's obstacles and other stuff, I can usually outmanuver opponents.
I'll be completely honest. Online, I used to be a lot better, but I don't have the time nor do I care to practice anymore. More importantly though, I'm just not the competitive gamer I used to be. Let's just say I've gone through a few mice and keyboards in my lifetime, and the funny thing is that I always knew how ridiculous it was, but it wasn't until about three years ago (I'm 22) that I finally stopped getting angry about games. I attribute this change to me finally getting a g*dd*mn life. :P Nowadays, I still think I can hold my own, but like I said, I don't really get competitive anymore. When I jump online, it's because I just feel like shooting at something, and computer AI is dumb. But I don't play to win anymore, I play to challenge myself. In Call of Duty, I almost always stick to the pistol and the non-scoped rifles. In CS:S, I actually do find it fun to try and help my team win, but I enjoy playing defensively -- covering the rear, smoking areas, etc. -- rather than simply gunning down hostiles. I also like to challenge myself and see how well I can do with the less popular and less powerful weapons. And I do actually tend to find myself on the winning team a lot of the time (even after I've switched over to the losing team). As for offline play, I can't say I have too much trouble getting the job done. In fact, I have a serious issue with single-player FPSs these days, as none of them are actually challenging. On higher difficulty settings, developers almost always just make the game tougher in some superficial way, like increasing enemy health and damage or limiting the availability of ammo. This approach is boring, and its the main reason I don't play (or at least finish) many single-player FPSs anymore. They just aren't that challenging.
Anyway, it depends on what FPS, as you can be great on one and terrible on another. I am great on UT2004. I haven't played many other FPS's lately, except for zombie mod on CSS, so I can't judge the rest.
When my ping is at a playable level (200 or lower) I own and in BF2, COD2 and CSS I'm always right near the top of the scoreboard. But my ping is only at a playable level for about 3 hours during the day if I'm lucky.
