I'm about to build my first rig and i've learned so far the basics to it all. Like how the motherboard and certain other parts have to be compatable to work but i'm have no idea what so ever which parts I should buy to last me through 2011 playing all games on high performance haha. So any info that you guys could give me would be much appreciated whether it be on which graphics card, mobo, ram etc. Also you guys can exclude the price of a case from my budget limit because I wil be choosing that myself, thanks. Thats only if your posting your rig builds though. I plan on upgrading this PC in the future so would a 1000w PSU be a better idea so I wont have to upgrade it in the future to prevent bottlenecking?iOverkillI just finished my build a couple days ago, came to about $1050 MOBO Asus P8P67 Pro. CPU Intel Sandy Bridge 2500k PSU 650W Corsair GPU ATI 6950 RAM G.Skill 4 GB DDR3 HD 1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F3

CPU Intel Sandy Bridge 2500k PSU 650W Corsair GPU ATI 6950 RAM G.Skill 4 GB DDR3 HD 1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 That actually looks pretty nice and for a good deal. How much was the CPU and if I bought a OCZ Vertex2 80g SSD would I still need a HD?
That actually looks pretty nice and for a good deal. How much was the CPU and if I bought a OCZ Vertex2 80g SSD would I still need a HD?iOverkillProbably. If you're installing a bunch of games, 80 GB is tiny. Most people will run a 500+GB HDD in addition to a SSD.

Most will put Windows and 1 or 2 games that they play the most (usually an MMO) on the SSD, then use another large normal HDD for storage / other games, etc. :)
The build that tears posted is very good :) The i5-2500k is the newest intel and runs $230 on Newegg. It also overclocks VERY easily, Make sure you grab a 64-bit OS :)

I'm definatley getting a 64-bit OS but the i5-2500k is my best bet?Yes, the i5-2500k is probably the most popular CPU right now and it kicks butt :) The i7-2600k is also good, but $100 more and is really only more useful if you do a lot of video / photo editing. I think the i5-2500k performs the same or even slightly better for gaming.
As for the power supply, 850w would be plenty since you plan to upgrade (a 2nd video card?) in the future. 1000W is kind of overkill I think, but maybe someone else can comment on that :) Go for a major brand like Corsair / Seasonic (They are pricey but good units) and I would recommend modular so you don't have 5 or 6 cables that you don't need cluttering up your case.
Thanks alot! Any other recomended parts? I just looked the i5-2500k up and it's affordable and a great buy.Yes, the i5-2500k is probably the most popular CPU right now and it kicks butt :) The i7-2600k is also good, but $100 more and is really only more useful if you do a lot of video / photo editing. I saw that your post about the Motherboard went poof. I don't know a ton, but i'll give what advice I know and then shut up :) There are many knowledgable people on the forum that will be better to advise you. MSI, Gigabyte, and ASUS seem to be the popular brands. I know that ASUS uses a new BIOS with their motherboards that is basically a graphical UI and you can use your mouse with it. You also need to get a P67 chipset, as the H67 will not allow you to overclock very well (at all?).
