Say if I have very little experience with Computer FPS, will it be hard to get used to it? I was thinking of getting a game like CSS and just enjoy that. But, I hear from many people that it's too hard online and that it'll take me months, maybe even years, to get good. Then there's Battlefield, is that hard to get used to? I want a good FPS online, but will it be too hard to get used to? And what's the best recommendation for an online FPS?RyuHayabusaX
1 week max and you're pretty good at any FPS, i'm recommending you to get F.E.A.R. Combat - it's great free FPS
I would say Call Of Duty 2 is decent enough for someone starting out with multiplayer. The default game comes with 'helpful hints' like grenade indicators letting you know where a grenade has landed etc.
Never thought I'd be recommending that game to anyone lol.

Free? so that mean i dont need to buy a legit game?
and does lot of ppl still play that game?
A) Depending on the game, not very hard. Computer players (on lower difficulties) typically have poor twitch skills and lack the strategic thinking of real life players. Even if you're good at killing coms, you're going to have a bit of trouble adjusting for human intelligence. It doesn't take that long, though. Certainly not more then a month or two to become proficient.
However, realize that there are a large number of cheaters on most online games. You're going to be very frustrated at times because there are going to be people you should have killed and didn't. This might cause you to reflect poorly on your gaming skills. Be aware.
B) I stopped playing BF2 and have almost stopped playing 2142 because of stupid bugs like that. I don't know exactly what the problem is, but I wish you the best of luck on getting it running and not having any more issues. Right now, my game won't connect to servers the first time I click and crashes my computer exactly every one and a half rounds. O_o?

Once you get the general dynamics down you should be able to do well enough with any fps, the biggest thing to remember with css is that some folks have been playing roughly the same game for a decade, and thus will know how to surprise you and how not to be surprised by you, the best way of winning a 1 on 1 fight in Counter Strike is to get the first shot off before they can, it takes realitively little to kill a person, so you need the advantage.
I personally recommend Unreal Tournament 2004
Not too hard. If you really like and enjoy the game it could take less than a week.
I used to play Counter-Strike Source back in 2005, I even got in a clan, but that is all history now. I got bored with the game in 8 months and I had never played it again since mid2006.
I recently played the demo of Battlefield 2 (I couldn't play it in 2005 because my PC didn't had an appropriate video card) and I like it, pure war drama fun. Though after a while it gets boring, but I eventually play again after a while. I want to get the full game in some time.
So the answer is that it varies with the person. Someone adept at FPS will get used to the game faster while someone new to the genre will have to play a lot to match adept players, meaning people who are good at playing it already.
Get ready to die alot. You'll perhaps even get frustrated.
And real opponents will be very crafty unlike AI, which is so limited. Make sure to use things to your advantage that others use like taking advantage of parts of maps that really weren't meant for being traversed, like the tops of fences and such.

yes it's free - all you need to do is to register at their site and get yourself a cd key which will be delivered to your email - the game takes 3.5Gb so make sure you have enough space to save the installation on your computer and enough space to install it
6Gb of free space will do the work
