Hello,

I just purchased Bioshock, downloaded the patch and ready to play...but I have a question:

Should I disable the vita chambers? The latest patch allows to do that... I like tough games but I don't know if it will be too tough.

Also, what dificulty should I play?

Just to give you a reference, I finish Crysis on Realistic and that is the level of dificulty I like, not as tough as Delta but not as easy as normal.

Also, if you have any other suggestion before I start the game, please let me know.

well since you like your games tough go on and disable the vita chambers.when i played the game i would reload a saved game instead of being resurrected at vita chambers because they just felt stupid to me.it doesn affect the story or anything else in the game.

I don't know why they are there on the PC version, I like most people I assume would just load the save game.

Bioshock is not boring. There are some levels with a slower pace... but it's a great great game.

I'm playing The Witcher now, and its nice, but the framerates are bad and it's tooooooo slow for me... as the review said, the story keeps me playing it.

I think Bioshock was a great game. The problem with it is that there's really no real choices, which makes it extremely linear and some of the plasmids (Target dummy) are extremely overpowered. The Big Daddy fights are really fun, however and the setting is quite cool in my opinion.

I played the game on hard, and I used the Vita-chambers once. And that was only because I only died once.

BioShock is a disturbingly easy game. Money (and therefore health and ammo) is in such vast supply that you will always be able to rely on good old fashioned health-kit spamming to get through the hard parts - did I say hard parts? I meant to say the slightly harder than easy parts.

I think the average to good FPS player can probably finish BioShock on hard with no Vita-Chambers pretty easily.

With both eyes closed.

And one arm tied behind his or her back.

While also playing Guitar Hero.

While asleep.

I tried to play through the second time with Vita Chambers off and it was not fun. It's not that the game is too hard that way (and I agree the Vita Chambers made it too easy), it's that the game wasn't built to run like that...

- There are no checkpoints. When you die you either have to replay the entire level or you have to constantly bang the Quick-Save key. Constant quick-saving totally ruins the immersion for me.

- There are some tasks in the game which are palatable once, but having to repeat them after loading a game is extremely tedious. Specifically hacking, camera research, and item scrounging.

- The "Quick"-Save is not quick. If it was a system they expected you to use, I'm sure they could have optimized more.

- When you die you can't use a one button quick-load. You are forced back to the menu you have to navigate the menu, find your last save game (they aren't in chronological order, they are grouped by level saves, full saves, and quick saves) and then load the game.

- The load game process is very slow.

If someone was gonna mod this game to fix the Vita Chamber issues I'd have to possible methods two suggest.

1. Turn off the Vita Chambers and add duct-tape checkpoints. I'd have every successful hack trigger the quick save. You'd never have to repeat a hack and you hack frequently enough that you wouldn't have to replay a ton of game. Also I'd give the option to quick-load after death.

2. Have enemies regen. Leave the Vita Chambers working, but when the player goes to the Vita Chamber have all the enemies on the level regenerate to full health.

Bioshock is a good game, and was well-recieved, but many people just feel it lacks that extra "oomph!" to make it what it should have been.

And many many many people were let down by this game. Its like youre a Christian, and you get into heaven, but when you get there you dont see Jesus. Instead you see Vishnu. Its not exactly bad, but you cant help but be disappointed.
