Particularly online. Do enough people play that it's easy to find a game? Also is the co-op worth playing considering the second player doesn't get to keep the loot he finds, or can you keep it throughout the campaign? Finally what multiplayer modes are there, is it just 1v1? or are there teams and other objective based modes?

I want to get this with a friend since the $20 weekend deal on Direct2Drive seems way to good to pass up.

I would defiantly get it especially at that price ... I bought it at full price and I think that it was definatly worth the cost back then anyway onto your questions...

The online has a fair amount of people playing I think not very many custom games but it seems easy enough to find ranked matches ... there is 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 now for the MP and the objectives of the ranked games is to capture and hold victory points which works out well however if you wish to play annihilation you will have to play a custom game. Co-op was defiantly an ejoyable experience the way the look works is the host gets all the loot but your friend can still use it on the other chars SP / Co-Op is a lot different than the game online you can only control 4 squads and they maintain their levels throughout the story so in co op you get to use 2 and so does your friend.

BTW if you wish to get into the mp I would wait untill the next patch is released they gave us a beta of the patch and it completely changes the way you will play the game and does a lot to balance it I personally wont be playing MP anymore untill this patch is released because I felt it was a major improvement and do not wish to go back after now seeing its future

Hope that helps

I spent something like 40 hours playing the campaign in co-op mode with a friend and found it awesome. I've never played single player I don't think it would be as fun as coop. Online they got rid of the benefits of nids synapse, unless they put that back in I won't even begin considering playing it again.

It's pretty fun, for 20 bucks it's worth getting it for sure.

There is a fair amount of people online and finding matches is no problem at all.

Co-op is worth playing through once, both players share the same items pool, basically everything is saved upon the host computer and you do keep everything through the campaign.

There is 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 ranked match. There is 2 modes, the victory points countdown and the annihilation mode which is to destroy bases to win. Every ranked match however is victory points countdown.

Yes, you most certainly did. Were there a fair amount of people playing pre-beta release? :D

im guessing u mean the beta patch and I would probably say yes but im not totally sure ... I kinda stopped playing because I was having a few of those really bad days of gaming in a row where I get pummeled every single match... but I came back not knowing about the beta patch I later found out dled it and I enjoyed it a lot more than I had previously since banshees once again are usefull although they kinda got rid of the point in making suppression since if you buy it the other team will get t2 and just get rid of em rq also I feel the orc turrets are nothing compared to the SM turrets ... the SM seems to supress almost instantly and Iv seen Banshees stood in the cone of a Orc turret without being supressed for like 10 seconds ...

nid synapse is still there, it gives +dmg% and +hp% iirc, hermagaunts also still leap out of combat over obstacles when under synapse

they just removed the, frankly said retarded, gaunt knockback and moved the jump in atack thingy to an upgrade

Online was the best strength of DoW 2 imho. I actually liked the game, despite me giving it a low review score. Mainly because it wasn't quite what I expected in a DoW sequel. It deviated quite a bit from the previous game, but it's still pretty fun.

After the new update goes live though it should be even better. Especially with the editor they are making so people can their own maps and stuff.

The game is awesome and one of my favourites this year. Buy it, especially at that price.
