So now that SS3 is 50% off I'm feeling pretty tempted to pick it up. I just wanted to ask anybody who owns it if it is worth the money? I loved the first ones but I don't really know too much about the new one. So what do you guys think?

I have had a good amount of fun with it, the survival mode is great with some friends, coop campaigns are fun and deathmatch is fun to.

Hope people get it while its on sale so there are more people for 8 player Survival, it gets hectic!

If you enjoyed the old Serious Sam games or old Quake games I think youll enjoy this.

hear its very underrated. people got turned off by the first few levels which were actually put there for training and to poke fun of Modern Warfare. it gets crazy hectic after the first few levels and the graphics when cranked to the max are impressive.

Sorry not to derail the thread or anything, but I also had a quick question. Is Serious Sam HD: The First / Second Encounter similar to Bulletstorm or is more hectic than that? For some reason it reminded me of Bulletstorm and I quite enjoyed that game, so will I like First / Secound Encounter if I liked Bulletstorm? Thanks!

First and Second Encounter are much more hectic than Bulletstorm. You could try the demos for the non-HD versions to see if you like the gameplay.

It is one of the best games out this year. You should definitively buy it, specially if you've got friends to play it with, coop is amazing!

It starts off relatively slow, but it gets extremely hectic early on.

But yeah it fulfills most of/if not all of the boxes of an old school shooter.

People seem to complain a lot about the visuals looking a bit too dated... Despite the massive view distance, dynamic lighting, dynamic shadows, parallax mapping, LOD, and massive amounts of enemies and particle effects on the screen at any given time, there are complaints that the visuals are too weak. I thought they were above average for a 2011 release: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/595832151272211061/8075AE21FBDCF9F7215B9111E4C93E7D32D3B320/http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/595832151272208641/3205367D03C634D63526305EB0997E2A8A8AF03B/

It's a game were i just can't explain why it got lower scores. I have had immense fun out of it, and it's one of my favorite first person shooters of this generation. Like others have said, it does start off slow, and that start isn't good, but it doesn't take long to pick up the pace, and once that happens it's a hectic, adrenaline fueled roller coaster ride.

It is definitely a great game to play, i suggest you get it and ignore the scores.

With it on sale at 50% off, it is just now the same price as the First and Second Encounter when they were new at $20. So I really do not see it as real sale price, especially for a Serious Sam game. I'm going to have to wait for it to come down lower. Since it got so many disappointing reviews, it won't be long before it gets even more cheap.

Also there is no demo, unlike the earlier games. So I am not happy that Croteam continues to drink more of the konsole kool aid by giving pc gamers less for more.

It's a great game but the lasting appeal for me wasn't really there.
