Hi, I'm going to buy a video card soon , I found the Hd 4830 for a really cheap price (100$) and it has a really good performance. What do you think about this card? Can I run Crysis at very high settings smoothly? Now I know you're going to tell me to get the 4850 because it gives like 30% more of performance, but it's 100$ more. I play at 1680 x 1050 resolution and my specs are below. THANKS.

Very High, no chance to be honest, even at low resolution.(17.4 FPS is unplayable)

High it could manage, but at that resolution you'd need a mix of high and medium settings to get playable frame rates.

Only $45 more, and no MIR to mess with.

Is a very good card (about same performance as 8800gt ). At that res no way you can play crysis at very high(to play crysis at very high at that res you need at least a 4870 and even that will barely manage it) but you will be able to play it at high with 1-2 settings at medium or all high at 1440x900. Imo is a great card for that price

Errrmm... I play at 1920X1200 with a 4870 at all very high with 2x or 4xaa and get around 25-30 frames, more in smaller areas. So nope... wrong

i dont know where you get your results but not even the gtx 280 can achieve 30fps on crysis very high at 1920x1080 Also 25-30 average means almost nothing since the minimum can drop 15-20 fps and thats not exactly playable specially in fps games

LINk( 1920x1200 high settings 4xaa 27fps let alone very high)

Link2 (No AA 1920x1200 only 20fps )

I didnt say 4870 isnt a great card but crysis very high at resolutions above 1680x1050 needs at least a 4870x2 or gtx285 and stronger

Might be because you have the 1gb version.

I have a GTX 295, and I still get slow downs at 1360x768, 4x aa max settings. It plays well overall, but somehow I think the 4870 would be a bit worse.... All I have to say is, go play Warhead and play the train level- good luck.

Yeah i haven't played Warhead yet, just haven't had the inclination to give it a try... Every card is going to get a slow down, and you're obviously going to get an awful minimum frame rate at some point... however my avg framerate is usually very good

Yeah i wasn't sure on the proc i was going to buy, and i eventually settled on the e8400... Have you tried overclocking yours? That might help out a little
