First time overclocking, so I'm pretty new to this. Using a CM Hyper 212+. Gonna run Prime 95 a while and see how the temps look. Do I have the voltage too high? Or should I keep that voltage and increase the multiplier some more?

Ubercool speed my man... Dunno about AMD and temps/voltages, so no comment from me on that subject. Nice job so far though ;)

I was thinking about pushing for 4GHz, but I'm not too sure that I want to just yet. I might pull it up just a wee bit more to 3.8 and then I'll be good. Gonna leave Prime95 on testing for a while and then see how things are looking. :D

The Phenom chips run on pretty high voltages, you can definitely push higher if you temps are safe

For instance my x4 965 @ 4.0ghz takes 1.475 which is perfectly safe (best to stay below 1.5) and stays below 50oC Prime95

Try Coretemp instead of Speedfan (more accurate and will keep track of your highest and current temps) Also that looks like you'd stopped Prime95 at the time of that shot (0.9% CPU Usage)? Also Vcore readings through that @ 0.00v / 1.57v what the? CPU-Z still reads 1.30v under Prime95 load?

I had stopped Prime95 like five seconds before on accident, I'll redo it in a few minutes. Edit: Using coretemp of course. And I'm still seeing 1.30v in CPU-Z and Coretemp while running Prime95.

Cool if it's 3Hours+ Prime95 stable you should be good

Keep temps under 60oC Prime 95 Small FFTs and keep voltage under 1.5v and crack that 4.0Ghz barrier

Edit: Note also that Phenom II chips suck power like crazy with voltage increases so be mindful if you're already close to your PSUs limits (1.3v is stock voltage I believe for that chip)

I don't think I have a problem with my PSU's limit right now, I have a 750W and I'm not powering all that much. I'll leave it on Prime95 for a couple more hours and see how things look. Thanks.

Be mindful also that any voltages you haven't altered (presumably everything other than VCore / RAM Voltage) are set to 'normal' not auto

Just mentioning this as it's something I missed when I was beginning.

Congrats otherwise and enjoy :D

Why dont you just up the multiplier to 17.5 amd you will get a 300 mhz OC.

I put it up at 18 with stock voltages, gonna stress test all night and if that doesn't work I'll slowly raise the voltage and multiplier until I can get stable at 3.8 again.

if u crank up your volts to 1.4 and its still not stable might need to fiddle with NB and SB volts a bit :p

I have my 1090T at 3.82 GHZ. Ill post my settings once i get home from work. Im 100% stable under Prime 95 with temps below 60C. Trying to reach 4.0ghz, but PC always crashes once I pass the 16.5 Multiplier and 232 CPU MB bus.

I really think that we should be able to reach 4.0Ghz. Cant wait to try this and run 3dmark 11 again! Specially after Ocing my GPUs.

Hey Sorax PM me if you get to 4.0Ghz stable under Prime 95. Thanks. Oh btw I just realized that AMD had this CPU as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103913 Thought the 1090T was the top of the line for AMD. lol.

The difference is .1GHz, which isn't really worth it. :P Okay, I'm going to try the overclock now, I'll drop you a PM if it turns out stable.

Sorry for all of the questions, but I have a couple more. :P Okay, so I worked with the settings in that Youtube video but changed things up a bit. I then used Intel Burn Test 10 times and had success. My max CPU core temp was 53C. How many more times should I run Intel Burn Test before I can assume that everything is stable? I was told the Burn Test worked just as good as Prime95 but quicker, so I'd rather use that.

I've read that 50 runs with the Intel Burn Test is enough to figure out whether you're stable or not, so I did 60. I lowered the overclock a bit (to 3.8GHz) until I can get more case fans (since temps were starting to run high, and I needed to up the voltage more which would have raised them more). I'm pretty confident that if it lasted 60 loops, it is stable. I will test it through every day use now, and if I encounter problems I'll work from there.

K so I OCed my Phenom 1090T yesterday to 4GHZ, i increased the CPU MB Frequency to 243MHz aprox... I also increased Vcore to 1.4 (used to be at 1.39). Well all in all these settings were not stable, Core 6 stopped working after test 3 under Prime 95. I know I should increase my Vcore but the temps are too high. At 4Ghz my CPU was sitting at 44C Idle. My room temp is just too high I think, im gona have to buy a small fan and place it behind my case....

what were the rounding errors with prime it can either be ram timings or voltages.

My ram timings are at default currently at 9-9-9-24. Any suggestions? Prob reducing my last timing to 23.
