Hey, how is Vista SP1 working on your computers? Do you recommend me updating to SP1?

I forgot I installed it yesterday...

I think it makes this PC faster. Just my impression.

well i haven't had any problems. But I also haven't done anything to see a boost in performance. I have really only been web surfing since i installed it though.

It's like an update the hides the fact that it is an update. (ie. No noticable difference)

To be honest with you, I wasn't having any problems before so I can't tell much of a difference (although boot times seem a hair faster). Just make sure you defragment your hard drive afterwards and everything should be fine assuming you installed it correctly.

Sounds like a driver issue. Try installing these and see if it helps.

I got and have had no issues at all, I think all these problems people are "having after installing" are just problems that happened coincidentally at the same time because I haven't actually heard a consistent problem between people.

It is certainly a sound driver issue. I had the same problem earlier today when I installed it. Microsoft says that it is mostly caused by not having the most up to date drivers for that device before installing the Service Pack. It certainly does not help when you go to device manager to see if any device needs it's drivers updated and it returns a "It appears you have the latest driver for this device." Even after installing SP1, I went back into device manager to see if it could automatically find it and reinstall the up to date driver. It responds that you have the latest driver, so I had to go hunt down on the sound driver from ASUS' website. There are 2 options when needing to update your drivers - search the internet, or search locally. Of course if you have downloaded the driver, then search locally to the path you saved it to. If it still cannot find it on the off chance, just go in and run the setup.exe from the folder. You'll need to restart and you should be good to go.

It's crap. My computer that is 1 month old, runs fast, just had a recovery 10 days ago tries installing it, but after it finishes all the phases, it said failed to install, reverting changes. Gotta hand it to Microsoft with their lousy coders.

I just checked my Windows Experience Index score, and it told me to check again.

I haven't updated any hardware, but my RAM operations/second and Gaming Grapics score increased by .1 and .2, respectively. When they're in the 2-3 range, that's a big deal.

Pretty cool of it. If anything, my score should decrease because newer hardware is available and it doesn't stack up as well against them, but it actually increased, so I must assume performance increased as well. Go SP1!
