Just to make it clear that this isn't a vs topic, since the covenant won't stand a chance anyway.
So I'm wondering how long would it take for the tyranids(W40K) to take out the Covenan(halo)?

Tyranids
How many worlds does the Covenant have possession of? I don't know a lot about the Halo universe.JP_Russell
I also have no idea.
I believe it would take them precisely 1 hour to ask them to leave nicely, finalise the negotiation and then divide the property equally between the two of them. biggest_loser
I doubt that the Tyranids needs to discuss anything since they could just wipe them out :P
Did some searching on the Halo wikia, and by my count, the Covenant has 10 colonized planets currently under their control with some moons orbitting some of them. 11 if you count a moon orbiting an uninhabbitable gas giant (which I will).
First, I'll assume the Tyranids use the method of attack they've so far only used (splinter fleets). Speaking very conservatively, it might take a single fleet about 6 days to attack a planet and its moons, lay waste to all resistance, and consume all bio-matter (realistically, it'd probably be more like 3 to 4 days). Not counting space and warp travel time, the Tyranids would take somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-70 days of battle to defeat all major Covenant forces and assimilate them (minus at least ten days counting just combat time alone). Conservatively. Probably more like 35-45 days. Without a doubt, a single fleet would not take more than a year including transit time to destroy all the Covenant, probably substantially less.
Now, if we're talking full-on Tyranid invasion, the Covenant would be erased from existence entirely in a matter of maybe two or three days. We're talking a force probably numbering in, at the very least, the hundreds of quadrillions (ranging in size and power greatly between gene types), and quite possibly much more than that.
I dont know anything about tyranids but if they are anything like zerg... not long :PSamiRDuran
Comparing the Zerg to the Tyranids is like comparing a plankton organism in the ocean to the sun.
Depends on how long it takes for Tyranids to travel to a system and how many planets the Covenant have.
There is absolutely no question that the Tyranids would outright slaughter the Covies in any battle.
Tyrnids? I haven't played the game thier associated with. But the tyranoids own the covenant :P (Ratchet and clank 3)leonhead
They're associated with a fictional universe more than they are a game.

The Zerg are well-known to be derived from the Tyranids, as Starcraft was originally meant to be a Warhammer 40,000 game.

yeah i bet they are still banging their heads against the wall for denying the Warhammer 40k license to blizzard..
zerg and tyranids would problay be even if they attacked each othertony2077ca
No, they wouldn't, not by a long shot. The Zerg haven't destroyed the Terrans yet, and at the start of Starcraft, the Terrans had (if I'm remembering right) a mere nine planets under their control. Meanwhile, the Tyranids pose a significant threat to the Imperium, which is in possession of millions of planets (upon many of which are built large city buildings housing around a billion people, with a dozen or more of these buildings on each of these worlds) and most of the galaxy.
I say again, the Zerg are pathetic compared to the Tyranids, literally like a tiny organism compared to a celestial body. A fight between the two would result in the quick and decisive extinction of the Zerg.

Quite possibly. :P But hey, GW's had their share of great adaptations of the 40K universe in games, not least of all being Dawn of War. On top of that, it's possible Starcraft wouldn't have been what it turned out to be had they not been forced to change it around a bit and make it into something of their own upon denial of the license.

Err, actually, Tyranids in full force would probably eventually defeat all of the Imperium. It would take a united effort by many sides (the Imperium, Chaos, Eldar, Tau, others), setting aside all their differences, to repel them.
The Orks, on the other hand, if they ever fully united under one big WAAAGH!, would wipe out the Tyranids and everyone else, too. Luckily, that would never happen. And the Necrons could also defeat the Tyranids, since there's really nothing the Tyranids can do to totally destroy them, not to mention they cannot assimilate them as they have no bio-matter. It'd take a long, long time, but the Tyranids would keep depleting their numbers against them to no avail. And if the Necrons awoke the Void Dragon... Psshhh. Bye-bye, Tyranids.

Orks. i'm not even an ork fan but it's in the fluff that an imperial general managed to divert some 'nids and some orks into each other so that they didn't have to fight. turns out that was a stupid move because not only did the nids get the survival genes of the orks but the orks (who are technically a fungus that multiply in war times and grow bigger the more they fight) multiplied like nobody's business and well eventually the orks just gave up (ran out of ammo?) but they left with more orks than they arrived with.
not to mention that necrons don't die (only the weakest have surfaced so far) and the dark eldar exist in a universe of their own and chaos is infinite because....well yeah daemons don't die they just get deported plus they've got 4 gods and about 10 near gods (primarchs).
im just poking flaws no for no good reason :p but yes a LOT of 40K is badass.
