i'm gonna buy a pretty nice new computer soon with an AMD graphics card, and i'm wondering, how long will it take the new evergreens to drive down the firepro cards's prices? will they plumet september 10th, or not really do much until like christmas? because i'd be willing to wait 20 days to save like 100 dollars, but 3 months isn't worth putting up with my relatively weak current workstation.

firepro cards are workstation cards, they'll still be super expensive when the new cards come out. They should drop by the same percentage but they won't drop to the same actual price.

In case you didn't notice, he didn't mention anything about gaming. He said his workstation, which is what those cards are for.

so you actually believe people who are considering about buying that graphic card for work would ask the questions on a site like gamespot?

Just get a Quadro FX 5800 and be done with it. It's expensive, but it's worth it.

Yes, because some people who help on the forums here are in the pc field. And can help. This is after all the PC Hardware forums, it has nothing to do with games. So, you stop being stupid

just because a graphic card is expensive doesn't mean its meant to run games. please do some research before asking stupid questions.AzNs3nSaT1On
yeah well they develop games using workstation graphics cards so these cards are at least capable of running games (the higher end ones at least), however they are almost not ideal to purchase for running games because of price.

Now don't you feel stupid.

This is PC hardware discussion, not gaming hardware discussion. There is no such thing as a stupid question on these forums. There only is stupid answers.

No there are stupid questions too... TC workstation cards will not drop to that price level during the time they're useful or even in production. If you want serious workstation advice i suggest asking on a professional 3d modelling site.

actually I think that you should just go for like a an ATi 4890 or something when the evergreen cards come out cause the desktop GPUs will drop faster in price. I don't see why a high end desktop GPU such as the 4890 wouldn't work well in a workstation environment.

They do work well, tom's hardwarwe had a thing on it a while back and the top end desktop cards were onluy slightly behind the workstation ones in Maya and such.
