if you were to step up to a GTX 260 216coreor a 4870 1 gig you would be completely set at that res. A 250 is on par with a 9800gtx+ and there a few games at that res that max settings will be out of reach. Believe me I went from a 4850 512mb to a 4870 1gig and it made all the difference in thew world at that res. And the cards should come down in price with the outstanding cards coming out from both sides. The step up in the card is worth the money. Oh yeah going for a factory overclocked version is how I prefer.

I saw you mentioned Crysis. I play everyday and online. Definetly get at least a 260 core 216 or 4870 1gig. This is an absolute must for crysis! I play at that res and I can max out 4AA. With the 250 it will struggle at times.

Yah I know, I skimped out on the MB. I will be upgrading everything next summer for SURE. I'll probably have ~$1400+. So, I will be able to get top of the line.

Thats why i need to know how long itll last me. I need to know if itll play games high to very high for the next year or so.

you won't play crysis very high with that video card and even high will be alot for that card to handle.

That machine will eat Crysis on all high settings at that resolution. I run it at 1680x1050 on all high settings in Vista with DX10 on my machine at over 35fps, albiet with no AA enabled. A better video card wouldn't hurt, but that will get the job done. BTW, my card with the overclock it has is roughly equal to the GTS 250, so the only thing that's better about my system is the CPU. Your results should be close to mine.

As far as how long it will last for running games at high settings.. That depends on what comes out, but if I had to take a guess, I'd say another year at 1440x900.

kk thanks, I plan on switching the GTS 250 for the ATi Radeon HD 4850 , and upgrading to a Samsung 22", and then switching my CPU to the AMD Kuma 7750 BE, while still getting a price decrease.

^^ would this path be better than the one posted first?

you have to understand that those charts show either average or max FPS. What they don't show you is minimum FPS.
