Not too many people. The only ones that will get one are people who are upgrading from a dated machine or buying a new Pc. People who have Geforce 8800's or better and ATI 3*** and 4*** are most likely arent going to get one. People who are going to get one with any of the stated cards above are crazy and that money must be burning a hole in their pocket!

I sure wouldn't since there's cards for a fraction of the price that can max all my games and in a year the card will be like 1/2 the price so I don't see the least bit of appeal, and im sure many agree

I am thinking about getting one, but I am not too sure yet. I got nvidia 7200 GS lol.

You guys think GTX 280 would be a better choice?

The best choice would be crossfiring 4850s.

Even a 8600GT would be earth shaddering too you coming from a 7200. I wouldnt even waste money on a GTX 260/280. A 8800GT or 8800GTS would be just fine and they still max games besides one Crysis.

I think they've sucked the highend market dry. There's just no reason to upgrade any more. The only people who do it are going from dated machines and those who MUST have the latest hardware (but even those people probably shelled it out for the 8800Ultra or 280GTX). For the rest of us, it just isn't worth $600 to play ONE game (crysis) on higher settings.

I think this card will be worth it a few months from now, but buying it right when it's released seems like a waste.

Nah, I'll be selling my 8800GT to a friend in order to get some money for an HD 4850. Sometime after that I might get a second one, but I'm not so sure. I run a triple head (4320x900 resolution), so it certainly makes sense to have the extra horsepower, but ATi doesn't let you drive multiple displays with CrossFire enabled. So, I'd either have to fork-over the money for a Triple Head 2 Go or a "really good" PCI card if I want to continue gaming across three monitors.

depends on the competition and when the next gen of cards are released and also what manufacturing process there currently on.

I've only recently gotten a 4870 which on my 22" 1680x1050 monitor is just fine. If I had say a 24" at 1900x1200 I might consider it as it's somewhat cheaper than two 4870s (bearing in mind that the NCIX prices quoted above are in Canadian money not US $, and while I haven't seen anything verified yet people are saying $500) and my motherboard supports Crossfire but only at x8/x8.
