Im ordering a quad-core 2.5 GHZ, new mobo, and 4 gigs of ram off of a site. Before hand though, I bought crysis thinking that my single core 4 GHZ CPU could run it. And it did! at 10 fps... Now I have a GeForce 8800 GTS so i know that i have the graphics, but how many FPS can i ecpect to get out of crysis now that im getting +6 GHZ more CPU power? (I wanted to get it running at high or max settings)

first of all it is not equal to 2.5 ghz x2 and also the less ghz doesnt matter because it is a better architecture then a p4 which i think thats what you had

i dont now the exact fps but it should be much much better trust me i would know i have 2.8ghz pentium d

if it is a core 2 or phenom 2 cpu it will run fine on high at around 30fps. crysis doesn't really use quads though, but any new cpu is way better than the old single cores even for single threaded apps.

Crysis doesn't need a strong CPU. I think a 2.0GHz Core 2 performs just as good as a 3.0GHz Core 2 in that game.

Uh...I agree with the other posts, around 30 fps.

But to tell you the truth,

1- It doesnt take as much as you think to run it.

2- Crysis isnt really fun to me.....

with an 8800GTS all settings on high probbly 25-30. i have a 3.6GHz Dual core and a 4870. i know a 4870 is a good deal more powerful then an 8800GTS and i get about 30-40FPS

Probably about 30 fps, Crysis performs better on nvidia cards than ATI.
