i have a

1 gb ddr 2 667 mhz ram

C2D-e4550-2.2ghz

geforce 7600 GT

200 gb sata hard disc

i'm getting 20 fps from DiRT on graphics medium, with 1024*768 resolution

im getting frames between 20-40 on moh-airborne with everyhthing maximized.(sometimes it drops at 15)

so if i 'll buy another 1 gb ddr 2 667 mhz ram how many fps should increas

for example will i run dirt at 30 fps or more? run moh at 40-50 fps without dropping?

thanks!!!!!

We can't say for sure how much the FPS will increase by. It's not certain. It will probably help for sure, but you can't say it'll increase Dirt by 15FPS, because it also depends on the game, and your settings. This day in age, if you don't have 2GB of RAM, you'll probably need it sooner or later for gaming, so better sooner than later

Maybe 1 or 2 fps with 1 gb more maybe it will stay stable, to get a big boost in fps you need to upgrade your GPU.

Right now, 2gig. RAM isnt making much of a difference, in some cases it slows the frame rate down. If anything its your GPU, you should upgrade that to something a little better.

It won't increase your framerate, but it will decrease stuttering while loading textures, decrease loading times because the game won't have to touch the page file as much. It will make it smoother, but not faster.

Adding another gb of ram would make your pc smoother in overall applications and also in some games, you should add another gb because it will become neccesary with latest games and you only would need to upgrade your GPU in the future.

FPS increase is generally achieved by a video card upgrade, not by adding more memory. Memory helps the system load the game textures, decrease overall load times ect. I do agree with the others, that you will want 2GB of memory for gaming anyways. The new memory minimum is now 2gb these days. And why not? Memory is dirt cheap.

puting another 1gb ram will cancel the stuttering and will make certain games run like butter, anyhow for major fps increase, upgrade to a 8800GTS 320mb, btw i've upgraded from a 7600GT to a 8800GTS 320mb, and guess what, MAJOR FPS INCREASE.

I'll second that :)

If you are on a tight budget, I would take that card back and save up for a better one, like a 8600gt/gts. Or go the best way and save for a 8800gts. Like he said, the difference between a 7600gt and 8800gts is quite a sight.

What did you spend on the 7600GT, is it AGP or PCI-e, and what country do you live in?

For that much money you could have gotten one of these

*Scratch the 2600pro, and 8600gt, hardly any improvement over the 7600gt (if any)

DIRT runs pretty bad on any PC or console. On the 360 it's like a slideshow, and even on highend PCs it isn't the best.

If you have or plan to upgrade to Vista you NEED 2gb of ram, however adding an extra 1gb of ram to an xp installation will also see some benefits, depends on the game, some games you will get hardly any improvements others you will see a sweet improvement.

I say buy the extra gig of ram,ram is so cheap nowadays it doesn't hurt to get as much as you can.

yeah but there will be some sort of improvements in the game right? for example when i max moh-airborne my fps sometimes drops at 15 from between 20-30 fps. so lets say i bought another gig ram this won't happen again right? i would get a decent fps between 30-40?

Do you think Vista will ever get patched to recognize more than 3 Gigs of RAM?

Picture RAM like shock absorbers in your car. They make it ride smoother and less bumpy, but not FASTER. So while the speed (FPS) may not increase, there IS a noticable difference (Less annoying little pauses).

RAM will prevent those little jumpy bits when your games load new areas and makes for a smoother experience, but won't give you more than a frame or two.

Wow, 32bit Vista does not recognize more than 3-3.5gbs of ram, Vista 64bit WILL recognize more ram then you could ever throw at it. You cant simply patch the 32bit version.

7600GT to 7900GS isn't worth it for the fairly small performance gain,i'd just get another Gig or RAM,only thing thats a upgrade from that 7600GT is a X1950XT or better yet a 8800GTS 320MB.
