Hey everyone, I'm like the only one in my entire area that I know of that is actually a big time PC gamer. I'm not talking about WoW or some other dated game that everyone can play, but I'm talking about PC gamers that have rigs that can run luxury games at such as Crysis or supreme commander. All my friends (the ones who really like playing video games) have never even heard of crysis and have no idea about GPUs or CPUs or PSUs or ANYTHING! I'm pretty young and I'm not wealthy in the least. I've just managed to pool and save cash up to get where I'm at. Any other really young PC gamers out there?

Too many. And for some strange reason they always want to reveal their true age with their words and actions. And its no fun for the rest of us (most of the time)

yeah well without any jobs of any kinds saving up for a new rig for kids is virtually impossible unless you're rich and spoiled...

I completely disagree with that statement. I get £20 a month from my paper round and with that I built this. I save up in between birthdays/chrimbob and when I get about £50-£100 for my birthday I'll upgrade say my GPU + then at christmas I can upgrade a major part such as a mobo+cpu/monitor ect.

It doesn't take much. I'm the only 15 year old I know who can build PCs to my level but I know a couple of my friends know how to do some small upgrades. I recently got offered a job setting up PC systems for £12 an hour in offices when they relocate though. So my computer upgrades are going to get one hell of a kick start after my exams and I start that.

Most kids have more interests that just PC gaming, like most have other consoles as well and just run out of money before they know it. I didn't realize I would really want to be a PC gamer until just a year ago.

I started gaming properly on PCs about a year or two ago. This was my first rig which I built around christmas last year. Don't take me like a nerd btw, I go out every weekend give or take the odd one when I get grounded for mucking about in school but I'm not bad with my money.

As long as you don't spend it on crap, I.E you go to the cinema, just buy a ticket and maybe take a bag of sweets you bought from somewhere else and don't waste £15 on popcorn.

My money steadily builds up like that, I only buy games I actualy really want to play and make sure I don't waste it on crap ones. Like I had around £400 I'd saved just after christmas which I put straight into this rig, after that I've done small upgrades and probably put anouther £50 in. But at the moment I'm on £100 which I'm probably going to put into a monitor.

That's from £20 a month paper round and the odd £10 here and there for exam results ect.

I'm 16, if that still qualifies me as a kid. After my upcoming GCSE exams, in the summer I'm hopeing to get a full time job for a couple of months, to earn about 1,500 pounds, which of 90% will go on buying myself a new PC. It's all worth it.

I was 11 when I built my first PC. I don't really hang out with any PC Gamers or...well...any gamers. But I've had a few friends that I convinced to get a nice PC. I converted one from 360 to PC Gaming and I found out this other kid (who I'd have to least suspected to PC Game) built his own PC. Really, PC Gaming is something you kind of have to begin by youself.

I stared PC gaming (never owned a console), when i was 7 and 11 years later, I am still loving it. At my high school, I am surrounded by console gamers who talk about Call of Duty 4, Gears of War and Halo 3 like those are the messiahs of the gaming world. One even asked me how do I play pc games "when there are so many buttons on the keyboard?"...

I'm 16 and when I was younger (like 1st grade) I mainly played PC games like Ghost Recon and MS Combat Flight Simulator. Then I kinda got into console gaming, and I built my first PC when I was 13 out of excitement for hl2 and doom 3. A couple months ago I built a new rig for Crysis etc. I only have 1 other friend who is primarily a pc gamer, but he bought a Dell xps instead of building it himself.

Don't think you can say that. Around the age of 3 or 4 my parents stuck me infront of the old TI-99 and I played TI-Invaders (Space Invaders for the TI-99.) I was amazed and quickly got interested in gaming. Grew up with a Nintendo, Sega, and a old 486 and gamed as much as I could. Then I got into consoles a bit more thinking that it was the greatest experience around while enjoying technology and especially computers on the side. Then I gained even more interest in computers, servers, and network hardware. With more interest in computers, I began building my own PCs and became a true PC Gamer. After my years of gaming on a PC, I have collected over 100 PC games and enjoy everything from RTS to RPGs to FPSs to Simulations. By the way, I'm only 21.

Well, you beat me ;)

But if my parents had bought me a computer before... :P

Well, computers are practically my life, I'm in college right now studying Software Engineering, I plan to work on the games industry when I finish my career :)

I'm mostly a PC gamer, but sometimes I use a USB controller to get the feeling of consoles. I started when I was 4, and my first game was Wolfenstein 3D. That game pretty much made me fall in love with Splash Damage, id Software, and Activision.

I'm 17 now, but I have always been a PC gamer since I was 7. I think the younger teens these days grew up more around consoles than PCs, when I was 7 I only used the family computer to play games like AoE and Duke Nukem 3D (R18 lol).

I started getting into PC hardware when I was about 13 and started building custom rigs, most of my male friends are the same. The females tend to like consoles more :/

The world needs a system, prejudice and a law slapped across gaming and it's accessories and counterparts. Personally I dislike gaming or talking with kids as we all know, they are immature and may cause tremendous problems to the community, such as, this seven year old gamer got jealous of a member of a group with stats and gear beyond his while they both are the same race and class and level and decided to kick him out of it.

Me, for one would like to see gamers at the age of 1-14 should be permenant banned and restricted from playing all games online and off from consoles, pc's and the internet itself. They may only play games such as barbie doll online and naruto and all that sort of garbage and the G and PG rating will be stripped of it's title from the OFLC and equilavent to international countries.

- Hate mail welcomed.

Teen

I've played PC since primary with Ages of Empire. Have ancient consoles like NES and have a PS2

Going for a media center this year with a mid-high end gpu 8800 gt or 9600 I hope

with decent processor of 2.5 ghz approx. 1.5 k to 1.8 k aiming for anyways

not spoiled, have been saving for a very long time now.

Love high graphics (Wish I could play Crysis) Love great depth and game play (Sins of a solar Empire)

Friends seem to be complete console wackos other than some that play WoW.

One even calls Company of Heroes. Company of C%@! When he's never even played the game... Trying to turn them into PC gamers but really just failing. Only PC games they would play are MMORPGs

Might get a new console in the future just to play with friends but always PC gamer 4 life.

Alot of kids dont see the PC as a gaming platform, and have never even touched a high end PC. I built my first gaming PC at 16 (now im 17). Its tough to spend alot for a PC rather than buying a game console, but in the end its worth it. As many before me have said, I think im they only true PC gamer in my area.

This has turned into a gaming life story thread. I am 18 (if you consider that a kid, I do lol) and I got my first gaming rig about 2 years ago (I could name off every part in it still :p) (been playing Pc games for probly over 5 years ago (13) though, and consoles since I was 5-6 years old. Woot NES). I just built my Crysis rig (or so i call it) a year ago and have been upgrading since, to my sig rig. I PC game just about every day and I absolutely love computers! Going to university for Computer Science next year. Very excited. But PC gaming has always made me feel I was playing quality games, And I am sure other PC gamers feel the same way. I own a Wii and a 360 and PC is by far the best.

3gb of RAM.

So I'm a gamer, but I'm not sure that fourteen is a kid.

I'm 24 so i guess technically not a kid anymore but still not an old fart either ;) . . . I started gaming on an Atari but when i was younger I played Wolfenstein 3d, the original doom, pitfall and NFS the originall, before you needed a dedicated gpu for gaming.

I got back into pc gaming a few years ago and just built my first pc a month ago, not sure how young people could afford to pc game atleast on any decent level considering how expensive it is.

I'm 16, so you could possibly count me as a kid, PC was actually the first gaming platform i got into way back in the early 1990s so i was definitely a PC gamer when i was a kid.

The problem is, is that PC games don't get anywhere near as much media attention as consoles. PC's are not generalized as gaming machines, so it's harder for kids to see the potential of the PC, without going out of there way. And also the obvious initial money issue can be a put off.
