That card could be a year old for all you know, long before any GTX 285 was officially planned. As for a new GPU? GTX 300 or HD5000 series I don't really care either way, but I'll probably be getting one shortly after release.

Depends how much they cost and if they're practically utilized in games.

Well since I'm about to build a new computer, I'll probably stick with a GTX 275 for now and then upgrade to a 300 series card next summer or something after seeing if it's really worth it and everything.

Funny enough i got it from a friend who did buy a 285 i got it for around $180 so it was worth it in the long run.

The early reports about the 300 series sound very good, but only time will tell.

Maybe in a few years, when there'll probably be games more advanced than crysis. My GTX 260 should serve me well for a few years

lol no such thing as overkill it all comes down to how its priced, i remember when i had 2GB of RAM back 2years before vista was out and people said it was overkill to have 2GB of RAM when we have games such as crysis, if we can have a single GPU be able to do what a TRI SLi GTX285 can do with crysis.... that is no overkill buddy

I probably won't upgrade for another year or so. My GT is tiding me over and I can put up with medium settings for new games if needed. I'd rather save up to get the mother of all cards next time I buy.

When there's a nice crop of games which need a more powerful GPU, and once the price makes it worthwhile, I'll pick one up. If there's nothing cheaper or better from the competition of course.

I won't buy one. I just got a GTX 295 a few weeks ago. If I need more power in a few years I'm going to get another GTX 295 and overclock my CPU. I'm not sure if my PSU could handle two 295's though. Hopefuly it will. The less upgrading I have to do the better.

I'm waiting atleast a year to upgrade to DX11, and probably a little longer. Since the 3 new advanced tessellation stages in each pipeline will require that games be made for DX11 in order to see the huge memory and bandwidth advantages, I see no need to get a DX11 card until then.

It depends on whether they support DX11, cost 250 US$ or less for the more affordable models, and if those affordable models can max out Crysis on 1280x1024 or not while never dipping below 60 FPS. If it can't fulfill all of that, it won't be enough of an upgrade from my current 8800 GT to justify the cost.

Yeah, since it will be a huge leap over my current GPU. So it'd be worth it.

Seeing as I am still getting by on a 8800GTS 320, a GTX 3xx might just be the perfect time to upgrade. I always like to leave it as long as possible so I get more 'wow' between upgrades.

Im thinking of building a new PC come October/november time. Currently have a Core 2 Duo e6600, 8800GTX and 4 Gig DDR2 (Only shows 3.5 as on XP pro still)

With Windows 7 coming out and possible the new Geforce 300 series out this year seems the right time to build a new PC.

If it comes out in the next three months, then I'll use my BFG Trade-Up program to get a "mid-range" version (GTX 360 I presume). If it comes out later then I will look at what ATI has to offer and Ebay my GTX 260 and go from there.

Well getting these new 5**** or GTX 3**'s series is a waste until a Dx11 game comes out, and by then the cards should have dropped in price and newer models should be out too. I would wait until they are tested on true Dx11 games before buying. Anyone remember the geforce FX's with SM 2 and Dx9? and how poorly they worked even though "they designed for that".

well i will be getting either an ATI 5xxx or a gtx 300 after they release their midrange game cards ( since they first release their high end cards and the midrange offers follow a fea months down the line).

I'm stuck with an old trusty 8800gt for more than 1,5 years and i need a good reasin for upgrade and DX11+win7+dx11 games like dirt 2 are a reason
