How many people here play L4D2 primarily for the single player mode?

that's a bit of a silly thing to do. the game is made for multiplayer. It's like playing BF2 singleplayer...

I don't know what BF is, but i've played L4D2 SP.
Battlefield 2... every now and then when I run into a bunch of lobbies filledwith self-proclaimed gamer gods or the noobs from h*ll that don't have any idea what teamwork is, I'll settle for the bots in SP for a run through. Many times they're better than the live players and do a h*lluva better job watchin' your back. There are a bunch of good players out there, who know how to play the game right; but trying to get a whole lobby of them is sometimes a little difficult.
The first time I played Left 4 Dead, I did an SP runthrough of all the maps. I did it just to get a feel for the game.
After that, I primarily played online.
L4D and L4D2 are not very enjoyable at all in SP because the bots are just too incompetent and frustrating, always causing you to take damage or get into situations you wouldn't if they were contributing as meaningfully as an average player. This is far moreso the case in L4D2, though, as the bot AI was made a mere fraction as competent as in L4D1. Where the L4D bots are difficult to rely on when the going gets tough, the L4D2 bots fail to perform in the face of the most piddly, basic threats or setbacks. Thus, hell no, I would never, ever play L4D2 in SP.
I play L4D with my dad pretty much exclusively, and thus far, the bots in L4D2 are still so incompetent that I have a hard time enjoying the game even playing with one other human player. The bots simply don't perform well enough to keep needless frustration upon needless frustration from occuring, and at this point I've given up on trying to put up with it and gone back to just playing L4D. A year and a half down the road or however long from now, when the L4D team will hopefully have finally gotten around to making the L4D2 bot AI as decent as the L4D1 bot AI is now, then I might play the game again, but at this point... L4D2 is just a more frustrating game to play at all, let alone in single player, than its predecessor and I'm done with it.
i've just had it for a week or so and so far i have only played the single player. to be honest i don't see myself getting bored with that anytime soon as its just plain fun to to kill zombies! besides, i tend to not enjoy playing on-line all that much for the same reason as Kaeladar, there are always peoples ruining the fun for whatever reason. i can see it being a lot of fun to play with friends but i don't really have pc-gaming friends that fit the bill..
Although the bots truly are idiotic (in the first episode of L4D2 I accidentally fell off the window and all bots fell too for trying to help me lol) I'm still playing SP to get a feel of the game and because it's been 3 weeks and I still haven't received the headset I bought on ebay :(
I prefer playing with other players but damn people get in the way of your fire more than the bots -_-
I must be really pathetic then. I play L4D 1 and 2 in single player mainly AND BF2 AND CS:S and I've been loving the bots for TF2 as well. I'm sorry, but I just don't like you enough to play with you and none of my buds have a pc that can play anything or they just don't "get" the whole m/k thing. "How can you play without a controller?" Bots don't **** and whine or try and kick you when you suck or play "the way you're supposed to".zombie91no worries :P, lot of people on PC play many time SP only in MP focussed games. For example, around 70% of people who bought demigod didn't played online at all
