How many RAM slots does a normal mobo have? Not the 3-way SLI ones. This is what im getting and ive seen pictures of it, the colored slots for the GPU's and the other slots for RAM? I only see three blue slots that look like a RAM stick would fit in, what are the other two white slots?

It is a MSI P7N 750i SLI, Ive seen pictures of 780i mobo's with one more of the longer slots...

The RAM goes in the orange and green slots. The blues PCIe slots are for the GPU(S) and the white slots are good ol PCI slots for just about every other card out there.

Most boards today have 4 slots though, some have 2, some 3, and some have even more.

SLI is associated with using 2 graphics card to increase performance. motherboards these days motherboards usually have 4 slots and they're coloured mostly to show how to put your RAM in so you can gain the performance of dual channel however it does vary e.g. dual channel for some is 1 and 3 whilst others its 1 and 2 so consult your manual.

Why does the MSI version only have it?

A lot of motherboards, and CPU HSF, are using heatpipes nowadays.

Yeah, it seems Asus's 750i does not use heat pipes, but the eVGA does, as does another MSI. My Asus X38 and eVGA 780i use heatpipes.

It is a pretty neat technology, they are filled with a liquid that turns to gas when heated to help dissipate the heat quicker.

How much did that MSI 750i cost? I am very happy with my Asus 750i even though I have not used it yet.
