as long as you want it to last as long as it gives you the performance you want then you'll probaly never have to upgrade this whole generation and in like 4-5 years if its giving you low-medium settings it will still kill any console in performance so its up too you on how long it will last

How long will it last without breaking? Kinda a weird question.

I have an 18-year-old IBM 286 machine that still shows no signs of cracking.

I guess it depends on how you treat the thing. Treat it reasonably well, and you should be able to go at least 8 years, not that you'd want to. The CPU/vid card would be ridiculously outdated by then

Well, it depends on your tolerance level and the games you play. For example, I got a Dell XPS Gen 2 over 3 years ago, and I am still using it (actually, I am typing this on it right now). I use it for work stuff, web browsing, email, graphics editing (for the web), etc. I also play Battlefield 2 at 1680x1050 after upgrading the video card to a X1950PRo. I think I can squeeze another year out of it. When you buy a top-of-the-line PC, and you upgrade a couple of components (mainly the video card), you can get 3-4 years out of that PC.

The 720H2C is a BEAST, and will definitely last you that long. It will last you as long as you can play your favorite games at an acceptable frame rate, and you don't have that "gotta have the latest" bug biting you every day.

Do you play Battlefield 2 at that res maxed out? Because if you do then I have a big bottleneck to open up worse than I thought lol

I play at full resolution, but not with all the bells and whistles turned on. It looks great (Viewsonic VX2235vm) and very playable. I have 2GB of RAM. Rainbox Six also plays good.
