I am planning on getting a computer and was wondering if this is a good deal or not... Also would this computer run SC2 or Etw on medium-high settings?

price now is 630$ and buy it now is 710$

Case: Raidmax Quantum ATX

CPU: 2.66GHz Intel E6750 Core 2 Duo

CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP45-UD3P

Memory: 4gb (2x2gb) Corsair XMS2 DDR2 PC6400 (800MHz)

Video Card: ATI Sapphire 1gb HD 5770 Vapor-X

Power Supply: Xclio 650w

Hard Drive: 500gb Seagate Barracuda SATA 7200.10

DVD Drive: DVD+/-RW

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Would you pay 630-710$ on it?

I agree with the above poster. That price is good, it'll max starcraft 2 out easily, it's really not that much of a graphically demanding game at all. Empire total war, not sure, but probably.

Realistically you would probably only get a maximum of $550 for it. Used computer parts depreciated incredibly quickly, and the relatively weak CPU and dead socket just kill it IMO.

Depending on how much time is left, I would go to Newegg or TigerDirect and price-out all those parts and see if you can get everything cheaper. I would also try for something like a 5870 or a GTS 250 video card and a quad-core CPU instead.

TC is looking to buy this computer, not selling it. With that said, I kind-of agree as I think $710.00 is a little much for what you get.

Ah I misread the OP. Its a decent buy right now, but just remember that your upgrade options will be limited in the future due to the socket type. You will likely need to buy a new mobo/CPU in the next few years.

I agree with half of this statement. Seeing as it is used it should probably be more like mid 500$'s but I have a similar set up, Core 2 quad Q8200 3.0ghz 4870 GA-EP45-UD3r. The mobo is one hell of an overclocker and if it really concerns you you can just get a core 2 quad for a quad core. LGA 775 is still a good socket, I don't think it is outdated.

While I agree that its still great socket, running an E8400 myself. Just the fact that they aren't making any new CPU's for it makes it incredibly unappealing to many people, especially those who don't want to overclock.

The bigger question is, should I buy this from Ebay? I assume it's on Ebay since you mention BIN. I would not buy a PC from Ebay. High chance of it being crap, not working correctly, no warranty, etc. Try Costco, BJ's, Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, or build it yourself.

I just found you an excellent deal - if you don't have a desktop yet - if you get this you can replace the video card with something like a 4870 or 5870 and be around the $700.00 budget

Quad-Core, 6GB ram, 1TB hard drive, Win 7 64-bit and a lot of extras - it comes with a 5450 but that may not be enough to run recent games well-enough.

I should have checked this thread earlier as Refurbished means if something was wrong it went back to the company that made it and they fixed the issue and/or it was bought then sent back and deemed to be in perfect working order. Refurbished is not exactly an old or a used system as it is at least rechecked after being sent back. Anything I've ever gotten refurbished has worked just like if I had been the first one to use the product. If something were to go wrong, Tiger has an excellent return policy anyway. So, like I posted, they can get that computer for $529. They can then add something like a GTS 250 if the power supply is large enough. I recently got the 1GB evga 250 card and it runs everything I have installed with excellent details and speed.

An almost unknown Manufacturer, 2GB less ram, 500 GB less hard drive space, and a 4350 instead of a 5450 do not make that a better system, even if it has .4 GHz extra cpu speed.

It'll max ETW easily (depending on the resolution of course). I could max it with my 4850 on 1440x900.

Oh yeah, and TW games are really CPU intenisve and I know next to nothing about intel CPUs but my Athlon X2 6000+ 3.0ghz played it fine.

Well, after actually getting a GTS 250 I can say it has excellent performance and an even better price - 99.99 after a mail-in rebate for the 1GB model - also from tigerdirect. So far it's been an improvement in quality and performance over my recently-dead 8800 ultra. I also posted a user-review of the card on the site.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the GTS 250. They're great cards and more than enough for most gamers. I just found it funny that you presented it as an alternative to a 5870. That's how it came across. :)

Well, without actually compariing prices, I knew that a 5870 had great performance - I then mentioned the GTS 250 as more of a bang-for-the-buck cheaper alternative - and now actually using one personally I would recommend it to anyone wanting to save some money but have the ability to run current games.

Especially when you can get one for $59 from EVGA's b-stock. 512mb version, but still a great deal.

EDIT: Never mind, somebody snatched them both up. They were there all day, and then both gone within the last hour or so.

Sometimes they use 3rd parties and then you're under 3rd party warranty. Refurbs include those that were damaged in shipping - there may be damage they do not notice/not fully damaged, refurbs include demo units used in stores that have had their lifetime cut short from usage. Is it worth saving a little when spending a little more gets you something brand new, not in my opinion.

As with any electronics purchase, therre's always a risk of a short life. personally any refurbished item I've purchased from tiger and/or newegg has worked just as well as it would have if it had been a brand-new product. They state that the items are checked to ensure they do work. If you can get something brand-new for a very similar price to refurbished, of course you should buy brand-new, but that is not often the case.

Actually, the last refurbished item I got from tigerdirect was a Dazzle DVC 100 usb capture device - it was $18.99 and included free shipping. This was in comparison to a product that seemed to normally retail for somewhere around $40 to $50 or more, and it was in perfect working order.

Edit: This statement was made right on the page you linked to and seems to go along with my view on refurbished products

Buying Refurbished Products

We are always looking for great bargains, no matter what the product category. It is very hard to resist those Special Clearance sales. However, another way to save money throughout the year is to buy refurbished products. Refurbished products in many cases can be a better product purchase than a "new" unit, since it goes through much more extensive testing, and the issues were known and resolved.

Sure, but the risk is higher with refurbished that's why they're discounted. I would take the risk with something pretty cheap but if I am spending hundreds of dollars I am not going to try to save 50-150 when I am spending that much. Of course that statement goes along with your view, they're going to tell you what they want you to hear for making purchases on their items.
