Well I'm thinking of buying Medieval 2 Total War.

But I'm wondering if the game will lag so much that buying the game will not be worth it.

I have a laptop. It seems to fulfill the minimum requirements:

OS: ME/2000/XP, CPU: 1.5GHz, RAM: 512MB, Video: 128MB, Hard Drive: 9GB or more free space

But I'm still a little uncertain. I have a HP Pavilion dv 9700 Notebook PC.

So... If it can run the game, then I guess there will be some lagging, but How much actually? Any idea?

do you have a graphics card or just an integrated chip? I would be worried it might not run at all if you have an integrated graphic processor. Having said that if you could get it to run I don't think it would lag at normal speed with a normal amount of soldiers. Of course the majority of the game is turn based where it doesn't matter anyway.

I am not sure I know what an integrated chip is, but what I know is that I can run games like Call of Duty 5 and 4 and Age of Empires 3 and other games without problems. And I think I have a Graphics card and not one of these integrated chips.

Well basically all of the computer's components are put onto a board called a motherboard and sometimes instead of a graphics card a chip is built into this motherboard and this is called integrated graphics. If you can play cod 5 fine, chances are you can play that game.

I just searched google for a HP Pavilion dv 9700 Notebook and I found out that the specs are 2.1GHZ Dual core, 2gb of ram and an 8600m

I'm gonna have to say that Empire Total War is going to lag incredibly even on the lowest settings. 2gb of ram on a vista OS will not cut it for this game, the processor is a little on the slow side and the video card is definetly lacking. Maybe on bare minimum settings with smaller battles you'll be able to run it.
