I've owned my new rig for about 3 months now and yesterday I opened it to check something out, and to my surprise the dust build up was quite noticeable. So after a little clean up, I was starting to wonder how often do people actually dust off the inside of their rigs. My idle temps actually went down by 2 degrees after cleaning the heatsink-fan. I'm also wondering if leaving a PC on 24/7 is still a good thing.

So anyways, how often do YOU dust off the insides of your rig?

I have an antec 1200 with dust filters, annoyingly you need to unplug the whole tower to get at them so I never clean it out, i really should though maybe a job that needs to be done soon

i usually take half the thing apart to clean the parts that attract dust individually. this takes quite a bit of time so i tend to not do it all that often. probably 2 or 3 times a year.

Once a month I take my computer outside and have at it with the air compressor.

The fan on a videocard in my old computer died as a result of dust buildup messing up the balancing, so I learned my lesson long ago.

I clean my computer once a week. I clean my house once a week too so I just throw the PC in the mix by getting rid of any dust and cleaning out any filters from dust. Because I do it so often, I only spend 10-15 minutes cleaning it.

This, I dont look to often either, and normally I just leave the PC running, go grab the vacuum, get all the dust out, go back to whatever I was using the computer for.

When I upgrade a component I might quickly clear out a little dust. Honestly though there is hardly any that gets in. I have dust filters on all the intakes...

About once a month I guess.

With my current build, the dust filters tend to collect a good amount of dust, so I clean them out about once a month. I do a full system clean once a year.

Always use case's with dust filters but some does always find their way into heatsinks, im sure it would be fine dusting it off only every third or so month but I do it about once a month.

I dont understand why people do it every week, are you guys/gals living on a blanket the midle of sahara with the PC standing in the sand? :?

I would consider myself neurotic and I barely clean my PC. I check inside once and a while, but I always find it clean. And I have no dust filters whatsoever. I think people just live in really dirty homes or something. Just sayin'.

Since I try keep my bedroom as clean as possible, I don't have to clean it more often then every 2 or 3 months.

Just don't light a bunch of candles for longs periods of time. I did, and I had soot all over the inside of my PC D:
