I used to not until fans started jamming or I had to clock down. After that lifestyle killed my 9700pro, I do it every month or so.

First time in years was a few months ago... not very dusty...
8-9ish year old Compaq had dust stacked about an inch high in some places...
This FX5200 is passive cooled so I don't need to wonder if its going to burn up over a broken fan... same with the Voodoo 2... and P3 450Mhz... passive cooled.

I get a bit tense when the CPU fan on this computer starts buzzing / rattleing... no idea what causes it... no wires in the fan... its not dusty... I'm guessing it runs on ball berings and it/they are worn out after all these years...

I have an extremely large fan on the window side of my case that sucks in dust like popcorn; I actually use a vacuum cleaner to get the dust out every month or so.

Man, I'm probably the worst for keeping my case clean in comparison to the rest of you guys...

Mine usually gets cleaned out whenever:

a) I notice that it's really dusty in there; or
b) I make an upgrade to my system.

So yeah. I don't treat it nearly as nicely as I should. So if I experience some sort of hardware failure, it's my own damn fault!

I haven't ever officially cleaned out my computer for 7 years. I have opened it a few times and coughed on the dust, so at least some dust escaped. Yet, no problems ever.

That post reminded me of when I cleaned my bros PC. I just turned on the industrial vaccuum ans sucked all the bunnies out.

Since I just got this one, I'm trying to keep it clean - I generally do a light dusting every week, and once a month I go all out, taking out my graphics card to clean out its shroud, taking off the front of the case to do a spot check, and getting in all the corners.

Hardcore. My desk has a space for a tower and that's where my computer sits. Plus, it's heavy. Considering I still get the Antec P180, it might be the same fate since I heard that case was heavy, too..

i built my rig in november..
and ive done alot of tinkering in it over the past few months so when ive removed the side panel i give it a quick clean..
it doesnt really get that dusty though thb. the only place it accumulates is inside my fans.

but a couple of weeks ago i completely rewired my rig to get better cable managment and i took out all my fans and my heatsink fan and cleaned everything with cotton buds :)
so its spotless now

Whenever I start getting overheating problems which so far has only been once so I got some of them cotton wool ear cleaner bud things and used them to clean the cement like dust between my processors heatsink and fan. I would have took the fan off but it would not come off.

I have 2 PCs, one was built in January of this year, other PC was built 5 years ago. I haven't cleaned the dust from my new build yet, but maybe this weekend since I bought compressed air. Another reason being that I will need to swap parts.

As for my older PC, I cleaned it completely by taking everything apart. Then I find out that I need to replace the thermal paste on the CPU, which I just ordered. It's time I maintain the older PC. I know they're going to be useful in the future!
