I had one a week ago tomorrow actually we used Ethernet cables and just went into the same network, shared patch files etc. and played.
Games we played: Mechwarrior 4, Flatout 2, BFME2
Games we're playing next time: DoW, HOMMV, Sins, CoD2
Whats easier? Doing that or using the same server?I had one a week ago tomorrow actually we used Ethernet cables and just went into the same network, shared patch files etc. and played.

Was making plans for it at one point, but I've never actually hosted a LAN party at my house. However, I do have 3 gaming capable machines on my home network and COOP play over LAN is used moderately.
I have a group of friends in which one typically hosts a 3-4 day LAN party maybe once a quarter or so though, recently I've only been attending perhaps half of those it seems (simply too busy, or don't find out the dates enough in advance, etc). This is where it's fantastic having a notebook as a secondary gaming machine.
It's always a GREAT time though!! :) Surprised to see Blizzard forcing play through Battle.net for Starcraft 2. Unfortunate IMO.
My last LAN Party was... 9 Years ago...:P Some Friends, Family members and I used to do Unreal Tournament '99; MechWarrior; a Few others .etc, our last UT LAN party back in 2000' was Sadly our last one. (Allot of us just moved away and moved on.)
So I don't do LAN parties anymore, and on that note the recent News about Starcraft II coming with no LAN doesn't hurt me any.:|
some of my fondest gaming memories were from lan parties, some of my co-workers use to have friday all nighter frag fests.. ut2004-quake 3- mechwarrior-far cry..... beer, beer, and more beer-tons of junk food. Now Im too busy to drag my rig out of the house, and some of my friends jumped ship and joined the xbox crowd.
One time I thought about having one, but then I realized I didn't have any friends that would go for that idea.
Although, back in the day I used to play Starcraft and Diablo across the internet with people that I knew (like face to face). I guess that doesn't really count though.

I haven't had a LAN party since either late 2005 or early 2006. Man it was fun, I just don't have a lot of friends willing to get together for one nor do I have a ton of space.
I have LAN parties quite alot, roguhly once every week or 2. Yes, we can just set up our on private server on warcraft 3 and be all on Vent, but it just isn't the same as being all under the one roof having a blast ^^.
Oh, I also have about roughly 16 people playing CS/Quake3 on the school computers during friday. That was some intense stuff.
I don't really have LAN parties as i don't really have the room at home but i'm going to one on the weekend at La Trobe uni called respawn, about 450 people are going. It should be good.
*EDIT* I go to maybe every second ( Few times a year)
