Depends on which part. My CPU is about year old, my graphics card is 6 months old, and my DVD writer is barely a month old. I'm still very happy with my set-up at the moment.

Mine is close to hitting the two year mark (Come february08 it will be 2 years old) and all it needs is an upgrading GFX card. It came with a Nvidia 6800 (think, forget now) and i upgraded it about 6 months ago to a Nvidia 7900, now im thinking of getting a Nvidia 8800 for games like Crysis and other such legendary titles.

Other than the GFX card my PC is a beast!

I upgraded about 9 months ago from a single core opteron to a dual core and upgraded my 6800 to an 8800. I don't plan on upgrading again until octo-core processors are affordable.

my pc is 4 months old, and i already need to upgrade, though i did kinda make a mistake on buying a 7900gs rather than a 8800gts, but thats why i need to upgrade, i need to get a 8800gts for crysis, and other dx10 games.

My computer is 4 years old now and still running strong. I have only upgraded the video card, PSUand hard drive space. I figure I can still wait another year to upgrade to a new system with Vista. I can still play most modern games with fairly good graphical settings. I plan to keep my old computer even after I get a new one, with a new power supply in a few years, it should last for 4 more years. I would love to upgrade my old system, but older parts seem to be getting more and more expensive.

ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton Core)

2x512MB DDR333 (PC2700)

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

80+160+250+320GB HDD

Mine is 3 years old built in 2004, summer, bought my gfx card when HL2 came out, so thats 2.5 yrs old. Still can play most new games medium HL2 and all its expansions are at High and with full HDR, even Graw2 was medium with full HDR, amazing, only my processor a Athlon XP 2500 is slowing me down in games like Supreme Commander and the like. Amazing what you can get out of these things.

Mine is 4 years old. I can't even update the graphics card since the motherboard is so old. I'm determined to BUILD a NEW computer from scratch only using the hard drive from this one, but I need money :\

Mine is a little over 2 years old I think, it still plays all the games I own well(except Gothic3), but it does need a small upgrade.

It now has A64 3000+, 6600GT, 2Gb DDR and I might sacrifice 300e to upgrade it to something like 64x2 4200+ and X1950XT, just too bad that 939 CPUs are getting really expensive these days, I would be almost better off getting a new mobo and Core2Duo ..and then I need new Ram and a new PSU which basically means a whole new rig ..so I'm a bit annoyed that my "future proof rig" proved out to be not so future proof afterall...

about 6 months, and if I were to build one today I'd use pretty much the same setup. Maybe a quad core cpu instead of dual... but that's all I'd change. I'm pretty happy with it atm.

a year and some months change, considering upgrading my graphics card (7600XTX) for when crysis comes out, and prices drop for current gen cards (cant really imagine spending over $300 O.o)
