How powerful is the gtx 660? Will it be able to max out games?
So far the only system with the gtx 660 is the Alienware x51. Somehow they got them early. I'll have to wait till next month if I want to buy one for my x51.

I have been hearing that the GTX 660 ti has been struggling in higher resolutions and AA due to the 192 bit memory bandwidth... sSubZerOo
He's not asking about the Ti - he's wondering about the GTX 660 that comes in the Alienware x51.
It's an OEM card that Dell/Alienware is putting in the x51. Not sure if they'll provide it in other pre-builts they have, for now it's just the x51 that I am aware of.

Evidently, you weren't here earlier, and as such don't understand the reason for our dislike of slipknot0129. Let me fill you in. Earlier this year, (maybe a month or so before your build), he came onto this forum, and asked whether there was a new version of the Alienware X51, and asked for advice on whether he should buy an X51, or a custom build. Obviously, we recommended a custom build, but he ignored us, and got the X51, proudly showing off the bad purchase he made. Since then, he's been advertising the X51 to everyone, even to people who's needs are completely different to what the X51 provides. Oh, and talking out of his rear while he's at it. Apparently, the GTX 555 = SLI 550 Ti's, which apparently "can and will rival the power of a GTX 670".
More recently, he's been going on about how the 660 will be the ultimate upgrade for his X51, and then he creates this thread asking how powerful it will be.

It was another poster talking about gtx 555 being sli 550 ti's.If it is right thats gtx 660 is two times more powerful than the gtx 555, thats gonna be awesome for the x51. I just read that its 105w. Means its gonna be cooler too.
Why does slipnot want to upgrade his godly 555 anyway? I thought it was going to max all games for some time to come.

If your x51 is so amazing, how come you spend all your time posting here about it instead of actually playing any games? Please Log In to post.
