How scary is Left 4 Dead

Hi everyone,

I purchased the valve complete pack and Left 4 Dead 1+2 are part of it...

However, while I do not become scared by "horrific" or "disturbing" images, I will jump at almost anything accompanied with a noise (even ponies lol), and while the images wont mentally scar me, it will make me jump out of my seat because of the "Disturbing nature"...

Anyway I was wondering how often things like this happen and how bad they are before I play this game so i don't scare myself to death, and if there are many jumpy parts, cana nyone give me tips on how to stop them from making me jump (as bad)...

BTW I'm asking abouth either of the games, I'm not too bothered about skipping the first if it is considerably worse than the second...

Sadly I'll have to wait untill tomorrow morning while Steam installs it (crappy internet = 7 hour download)

0/10 scary factor. Not even the least bit scary whatsoever. No jump scares. None. Nada. It's more humorous than scary. If you want scary play Amnesia.

Well overall it's not a verys cary game, however the first time you come accross a Witch crying you'll maybe start to get abit scared or perhaps you can hear a hunter growling close by then his shriek when he pounces you. you may need a new pair of underwear after than but you should get used to it! Have fun!

I always find the witches scary as hell.

Its not scary but seriously, when you play it on realism mode and you lose your team, have hardly any health and only have a pistol, its INTENSE!!! I think I might play it now actually!

Not really meant to me a scary game but it is a ton of fun!

If you're vulnerable to jump scares, then there's only one monster that watch out for, the leaping Hunter. Even so, the factor is really small, the game isn't anything to be scared or jumped about compared to old resident evil games or dead space's over the top, in your face jump scares.

Well, a fat man puking on you can be seen as quite disturbing but it's all in good fun:P

It makes a good use of music, that awkward piano once in a while. It does feel like a zombie movie.

Sometimes it is spooky, but the Witch is where I get most nervous. Otherwise I feel like Rambo, mowing down helpless zombie hordes.

I'd say don't bother with the first game. L4D2 on Steam is basically both games, but with L4D2's guns. Of course if you are a stickler, L4D1 has some unique dialogue with the original survivors and the original maps are presented better, so its worth checking out at least once.

Anyways, its not a horror series, but if you play with 4 friends on Advanced or (God help you) Expert, then it can be one of the most tense and terrifying experiences. You might have more ammo then a small army, but that's small consolation when there are 8 zombies for ever bullet you own, and I think my heart has never pouned harder then when I was on the last stretch towards the safehouse, on my own (whole team died), in the red zone of my health bar.

As a traditional horror game though, its not scary. No Silent Hill type psychological horror or disturbing imagery (some disturbing stuff, but not in a big horror way). Its just a big fun action game.

Not scary, occationally startling. stressful in an Incredibly fun way. play it coop with friends, its fantastic and frantic and awesome.
