Hi I just recently bought an nvidia gtx 470 video card to upgrade from my 9800 gtx. I have to run all my games on DX10 right now since 9800 gtx doesn't support DX11. My new 470 can run DX11 so I was just wondering how to change the settings from DX10 to DX11 in my games. There isn't an option in the game's option menu, so does it change automatically? Or do I have to change it manually?

Thanks.

There are only a few DX 11 games and not that many DX 10. There are no settings, some have higher values for settings for higher DX, some have a separate DX 11 exe, some have in game options that clearly say DX "10/11".

It depends on the game, if you don't have a separate exe or clear DX 11 features then you should just max the games.

okay. go to: my documents/bfbc2/settings.ini right click on it and click 'edit'. 5th row from the bottom theres a line that will say 'DxVersion=x' (x representing what dx level its at. will be anywhere from 9 to 11.) change it to 11. save it. exit. play game.

It's currently set to auto. SO does that mean it will automatically detect my new video card and run on DX11?

it should. but it doesn't hurt to force dx11 just in case. won't do any harm at all.

no prob. and i shall add, if you start to experience some kind of screen flickering, turn of bloom. this problem happens to this very day with a bunch of cards or card setups (didnt do it with a single 6850, did it with 6850's in crossfire :( ) from both nvidia and amd. you can turn bloom off in the same document.

DX11 is an API. A code path that can be used by the developers to render the game engine.

If the game was not programmed with DX11 code path features, then it won't use DX 11. Period.

Some games have DX11 features. If that's the case you should be able to turn those on from the settings menu, or from a launch screen.
