I'm not sure how much performance you will get as you will downgrade your PCI-E 16x to dual 8x on a 650i chipset.

I read a review recently of my motherboard, and there was no difference between SLI16x and SLI8x in tests. And that was with better video cards. If I wouldn't have read that though, I would've assumed the same...

Step 3: Installing your NVIDIA SLI-Certified Components Step 4: Installing the NVIDIA SLI Software Step 5: Enabling NVIDIA SLI All found at the link given to you earlier in this thread.

That does't matter. You get the same performance using 8x or 16x but I wouldn't bother with two of those cards. One if sufficient. I have the same motherboard and I tried sli with it before. There is an option in the bios that says aperture that you enable. You can also view the manual on the asus website.

Did you attach that thing to join the two cards? If you did and the motherboard doesn't recognize it then it is faulty. I had to RMA two motherboards because of this and it was a pain because Asus service is the worse. Try one card in the second slot and see if it works. I don't know what you mean by Physx.

PHYSX is a tech where u can use a card which is dedicated to PHYSX games its like ( wat i think) u put the second card in the slot where u would put the sli card and u run the card as if it was in sli but the card in the second slot can be used for physx calculations it is good for games like Mirrors edge and also some games are coming which take advantage of this so i wanted to add my 8800gt as my physx card

There are so few games out there that currently make use of Physx, so I can't really see why you'd want to bother with something like that. A GTX 260 should suffice enough to run any current game at high (or near high) settings and also handle the Physx that some games require. Especially if you run two of these cards in SLI. Here's what I would do if I went from 1 card to 2 in SLI: 1. Uninstall the current video drivers and power down. 2. Install the second GTX 265 and make sure you attach the SLI bridge to both cards and any necessary power connectors to fully power both cards (you might be pushing it with only having a 750W PSU, even if it is a Corsair). 3. Install your most up to date video drivers - the installation will run twice as long because it needs to input driver information for both cards. Then when that finishes, restart. 4. Upon starting up - I know in XP, a bubble message will appear in the lower right corner by the clock and it'll say something like: "Click here to enable SLI". So click on the bubble message. This will open up the Nvidia Control Panel. 5. In the control panel, there's an expansion menu along the left side with some expansion boxes. The top one is (if I remember correctly) where you can enable and disable SLI. Also, with the 8xxx series cards and newer, you also get an option to enable or disable Physx. There may or may not be an option in your BIOS where you can enable SLI as well....I can honestly say I have not come across any such option in my BIOS. I hope that helps you out.

I know it was true with the 8 and 9 serie, but aren't the latest card using a lot more than half bus bandwidth?
