I just got a laptop with i5 processor, 2 GB Nvidia Geforce 650M, 6 GB ram. I have a internet connection with a speed of about 2.5 Mbps speed. I want to get into multiplayer and especiially BF3.

How much data does it consume for about an hour of gameplay.?

What are the important things that i need to know about multiplayer gameplay.

Ask in the EA forums you might have much better luck finding a response there.

If you're asking if your laptop can play BF3 multiplayer or something equal to it, then yes, on low or medium specs, it should have no problem.

Or you will get you're origin account banned for not saying something postive about them.

LOL, only EA would ban your GAME account for dissing their products on a forum -.-.

What do you mean by data @ TC? Do you mean you can only down/up stream a certain amount of data gb like a phone plan? Otherwise if it is just bandwidth speed than everything except 56k will suffice for gaming already.

Is it true that you have to download a 5 GB patch after you install BF3 from the disk?. The only experience i have had with DRM games is with Half Life 2 : Episode one. It was on steam and took a while to install. I am from india and broadband internet is not very afffordable/stable like other countries.I have heard that many times you do get disconnected from the EA servers right in the middle of a BF3.

So is all that pain really worth playing BF3 multiplayer?

Well, if you're downloading BF3 from scratch, it's 16GB in total, the patch included. Connection issues as far as I'm aware are fixed and if there still are, it's mostly due to punkbuster issues like the connection problems BC2 had.

The important things to know about multiplayer gameplay in BF3 - You will die LOTS, especially jumping in now when many people know what they are doing. Feel free to hop on some empty servers and explore the maps, know where the flags are etc. Also you can practice your chopper flying and other things there so you don't accidently crash into a cliff with a chopper full of friendlies. Listen. This is very important. Teammates will scream for ammo or health or cover. You can also hear enemies yell when they are reloading and scream in pain when they take damage. Watch. Look at your minimap, it is your friend. It tells you when non silenced fools fire, it shows you where enemies are when they are spotted. Flags will flash when they are being taken. Spot. If you see an enemy, press Q. Q and shooting should go hand in hand. If you die, your teammates will have a better chance of kiling your attacker if they are spotted. If something goes wrong with BF3 (disconnects, lag etc), assume the problem is punkbuster related. This usually means updating the service or uninstalling / reinstalling the service.

The files are BIG, I would think is a pain to download everything. 16gb base game + 3gb for cq dlc, and Im guessing the game will only get bigger.

What about the campaign. Most people say that it is boring. But i was on a long break from fps gaming . The last fps i played was COD 1 in 2003. So will it be a bad investment (considering my long break) if i buy BF3 for the Single player. IF it is a bad investement can anyone suggest fps games with a decent campaign.?

Homefront comes to mind. I only own the PS3 version and it is a buggy freezing mess as hell, It's also available for PC and the campaign is pretty decent, but you should check out here on GameSpot first if the PC Version suffers similar problems.

Metrto 2033 is a good FPS and it's a single-player only game. I also enjoyed Rage quite a lot, although it's not much for story but more for it's gameplay.

In that case I'd rather recommend Borderlands ^^

stalker: shadows of chynoble

stalker call of pripyat

both examples of good SP fps's

anyway one game i might recommend to you fr MP is minecraft

it takes all of 15 seconds to download (thats with a slow connection) and basically consumes 0 data. the problem is that servers can lag like mad on a bad day.

BF3 multiplayer is like CoD on speed. You die three times as often and the inclusion of vehicles turn the battlefield into a chaotic rather than strategic environment. It's fun if you like lots of noise and explosions and shooting anything that moves but you won't find much in the way of teamwork and proper objective hunting.

Arma 2 is the ideal military FPS for that. I remember playing on Insurgency Co-op where you and your squadmates have to work together, keep formations as you clear buildings, covering fire etc. Best teamwork I've seen in an FPS.

Yeah, the more I see of Arma the more I think it's what BF3 should have been and what 1942 used to be like before BF2 came out.

Bf3 can be whatever you want it to be. Pubstar, lonewolf, or team work thru 3rd party voice chat.

I was destroying this squad with their god awful gunplay skill, but they manage to stick together and revive each other enough to beat us.

There are also organized clan wars 32v32 sometimes, I have yet to try those, but they do exist. The game is a mix of casual and seriousness in it to cater to everybody. Yes, you do they faster by bullets, but at least you don't get those bs killstreak stuff raining on you.

The game of course does have flaws like glitches, camping, and vehicles that pretty much overpowers ground units if you know how to use them.

In BF3, you are the Killstreak :P. Ask one of your jet or heli teammate to bombard a checkpoint.

That game is infested with n00bs. You'll fit in nicely, and probably hold a 1:1 KDR.
