O.K. so basically I need to know how to get to the "post" screen on my PC, the one that shows base memory, ext memory, processor type etc.

When I cold boot my PC I don't see a screen that contains this information, it just goes from my mobo screen to "starting windows" anyone know how I can get to it?

BTW I am running vista 64 bit if that would make a difference, I don't think you guys would need it but here's a link to my mobo if that is what is affecting it?

Figure out what bios you are running. There is a keyboard function key(usually F10,but sometimes it's different) that when pressed as soon as you power up your rig, will get you into the bios. Then you can set a post screen option from there.

The POST goes on while your motherboard's logo is on screen.

You can hide it by going into your BIOS setup (usually press 'DEL') and looking for an option which will be something like 'Show Startup Logo', and setting it to 'Disabled'.

Alternatively, there might also be a button you can press instead of 'DEL' which just hides the logo and shows the POST. On my system, if I press 'TAB', the logo disappears and I can see what's going on.

Depends on the BIOS version, but you usually have to press Tab.
