Here's my current rig:

9600 GSO 768 MB (got it for 94$ canadian)

4 gigs of Fatal1ty OCZ DDR2 RAM

AMD Athlon 6400 2.4 GHz dual core processor, I'm not quite sure how to describe my processor.

Anywho, I'm currently running the game on High settings relatively smooth (25-35 FPS), but I want to push it to very high.

I have enough RAM (imo), and my processor is dandy, would upgrading my graphics card (which I kinda cheaped out on) be the most efficient and significant way to improve my performance?

This is my first rig and I only build it this week, so sorry if I'm a bit newbish when it comes to hardware.

Even though its several years old you will need the best of the best to max it out.

Unless you drop thousands you cant do it.

turn of direct 3d, slightly raise the speed of your fans to cool ur GPU so it preforms better, update drivers, turn on motionblur maxed out to give it the illusion of smoother preformance.

seriously that graphics card is crap, you will get a huge performance boost if you upgrade the gpu, what is your budget, overclocking your cpu will help also once you upgrade your graphics card i'm about to install Crysis myself, I just bought today, and cant waitl to play it on my new rig I just built last month specs: Intel i7 920 Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo GSKILL 6gig Ram GTX 295

My girlfriend bought me a £1000 PC for my 21st, and playing Crysis on max really is the ONLY way to play it :D

Bragging aside, I downloaded a mod called Xconfig. It's meant to improve your frame-rates at no cost to visual beauty, I think. Don't know how well it works though. Also, if you have Vista and your graphics card can use DirectX 10, disable it. I gained about 10 FPS and lost pretty much no visual detail from disabling it.

As far as hardware goes, I don't really know myself, but my ATI Radeon 4870 (and 4GB of RAM, Quad-core Intel CPU Q6600) can run it maxed out at about 20-30 FPS. That's with DirectX 9 and Vista.

Also check out the Crysis Tweak Guide. Skip to the in-game settings because it explains which settings you can reduce without really noticing on-screen, while improving frame-rates.

(By the way, if you do have a good spare amount of cash lying around, I'd say upgrade. I hated Crysis on my old PC, but playing it maxed out really changes the gaming experience.)

Hope I helped.

Other ways to improve performance on Crysis that don't involve hardware :

- Download CCleaner and run it daily. It really cleans your system's crap. You won't know how much crap it will clean out.

- Turn off Anti-Aliasing fully ( If you can get your resolution to run at 1024 x 800 at least )

- Start from the lowests settings and work your way up. Try turning individual ones higher than others and see which graphic setting eats up the performance, then customise that setting to your liking.

- Download the latest Nvidia drivers . ( I got a 10 - 15 fps boost on Crysis from this, it is very important that you get the latest drivers for your Video Card )

Thats all I can offer at this moment.

I can play Warhead pretty smooth on high on the setup in my sig, if you get a 9800gt you should be sorted and it won't cost too much. The rest of your rig is better than mine too so you should get really good performance.

Go to Crymod and look up config files for your configuration. Those things saved me a year ago.
