i have a 7950. i can run pretty much everything on high. the only trouble i have is when i'm on horseback. every so often the frame rate stutters a bit. but that could be anything.

My rig: Athlon 64 3500+, 2 GB DDR2 400 Mhz, 7900 GT 256 MB.

Oblivion (in my Viewsonic VX2025wm at 1680 x 050) : with settings on high my system performs about 30 fps inoutdors and 60 fps + in indoors, but WITHOUT some of the shadow settings and without HDR. The game runs fine to me, and at your res the performance will be better. Anyway, next monday the 8800 GT will be on sale, which are much powerful than the 7900 GT.

Yes, it'll do fine.
My 7900GT can max out Oblivion at 1680x1050 and get 20 to 30 FPS, and up to 80 in indoor areas.

I have a 256mb 7800gs and I can run 1600x1200 with everything most on max, only thing I have to turn off is Grass, and than it runs silk smooth. Just remember that all those crappy blades of grass don't do anything except slow you down, turn them off.
