Hey guys, I was just wondering since I'm still a bit iffy on how GTA4 will run on this machine, my specs are: ATI 5750 1GB HD, 3gb RAM, and an AMD 3600+, I know everything else will hold up on my system, except I'm not so sure about my processor.

Is that a dual-core Athlon?
Hmm. I'd say that the experience won't be very enjoyable... unfortunately.
Ur not going to be able to run it... gta needs AT LEAST an amd 2.4ghz dual core. Ur CPU is only 1.9 ghz. u may want to think about upgrading to a quad core of some sort. gta 4 LOVES quad cores and hexa cores :)
It should be playable enough on medium settings. But just like any other game you'll want to tweak it to get the best quality / performance. You certainly meet the requirements as I was running it at 1600x1200 on my Opteron 170 system (dual-core at 2.0 Ghz) with 4GB DDR, and an 8800 ultra card with 768 MB ram. After it died, I installed a 1GB GTS 250 card and was able to increase some of the details. The game has a built-in benchmark and a 'button' you can click to let the game optimize settings. Just get it as reasonably priced as you can in case it doesn't run. I think I saw it for $7.50 on amazon.
Edit; You may be able to run it a lot better than I thought: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a5GXX6UZAc&feature=related
It looks like there are no shadows in the video which can cause slowdown in the game, along with view distance.
Edit 2: Here's a link to a video I made when I still had the 8800 card - keep in mind it was all captured at 1600x1200 then encoded at 1280x720, but it's how the game ran in those particular areas at the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1sR4e9XgW4
[QUOTE="Nick3306"]No, you will not be able to play it, not even on low. The game takes a lot of resources.Stinger78I've already provided 2 youtube videos that say the possibility is otherwise. Well I read your post before you edited it. But at those settings you would be better off playing san andreas (which is more fun imo)
Thanks for the help, I think I'll just lay off GTA4 until I get my brand new PC that I'll be buying custom made (which'll cost about 3300) I already have it on console so I see no point in really getting it on PC aside from better customization and mods.
Why would you get a $3300 rig? If you have a 3300+ now, you really cannot care as much about graphics as you think you do. I see so many people buy top end rigs, and keep them for seven years eventually playing everything at low settings, and I always wonder why they do this. You can get a basic phenom x2/GTS450 rig that will work fine, or a phenom x4/GTX 460 rig that will run great (1080p max settings) for a quarter of that. Thanks for the help, I think I'll just lay off GTA4 until I get my brand new PC that I'll be buying custom made (which'll cost about 3300) I already have it on console so I see no point in really getting it on PC aside from better customization and mods.

gta4 without a quad core is not a very good experience. It will run ok but there will be lots of slow downs and you will have to keep the traffic down. imprezawrx500Not really i have a 9800 gtx+ with a core 2 duo 2.60 and 3 gigs of ram and I run it on high with an average of 35-50 fps. Anyways tho. I think you would run it okay.
I'm not buying some pre-made PC, I'm building it myself, I was just wondering because this isn't the only game I'll be playing on this new PC. I really only got the 5750 so I could run my MMO's at top quality. I was just wondering if I would run GTA4 with any luck before I went out to buy it.

It is a common misconception, but you could run it on that set up. The problem with GTA is that it is a TERRIBLY optimized game. You have a much better chance of running crysis on high than this game on low. Even on low it takes a good processor and needs a minimum of 4gb's of ram to even think about working well. You can get away with using lower end stuff, but you will likely see bad framerates in parts of the game if not all of it.
